Hi everyone, hope your all fit and well, just thought I'd get this message board off to a start. One of my favourite types of food is pasta, which is just as well if you travel to Italy a lot which I and my wife do. There are so many different types that I swear you could have a different one for every day of the year. Lasagne seems to be top of the list in the UK for popularity. There's some interesting vegetarian recipes from all over the world at this site (and no I'm not a vegetarian) http://www.veggieheaven.com/recipes/ I like the Vermicceli recipes. Let us know if you have a recipe you particularly like.

Hi Blue

I like pasta too, especially with the pesto sauce ( I like the Basillica best ) quicker than a pot noodle and infinitely tastier!

The Tortachella good with tuna and maonaise for a quick snack.

Hi Niall. I'm pleased to hear you have better taste than pot noodle....they are disgusting!! IMHO, and they taste like straw (and yes I did try one or two of them eons ago). I tend to put parmesan cheese on everything including jam butties...oh yes I do!! heehee.

An easy recipe for making your own pasta......

INGREDIENTS

2½ cups sifted flour <> a pinch of salt <> 3 eggs <> 1 tablespoon of olive oil

METHOD

Put the flour, salt, eggs and olive oil in a food processor and mix to the consistancy of dough.

Turn out the dough on to a lightly floured surface and knead well until really smooth and silky.  Roll out the dough, giving it an occasional quarter turn and stretching it out until it resemble a thick sheet of cloth and is almost transparent.

Hang the pasta over a length of wood and leave to dry for about 10 minutes.  Alternatively, lay it out on a table with one-third overhanging the edge, and keep turning it so that it dries out completely.

Roll the pasta loosely and then cut through horizontally at regular intervals to make fettuccine (1/8 inch wide) or tagliatelle (¼ inch wide).  Unravel the strands and toss gently in a little flour.  Leave them to dry on a cloth for at least 30 minutes before cooking in salted boiling water.  Serve with a sauce or simply tossed in olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper and parsley.

IT ALWAYS COMES DOWN TO FOOD DOESNT IT?

DONT KNOW IF PUSH BIKES ARE ALL THAT THEY ARE CRACKED UP TO BE, LOL. BUT A GOOD OULD WALK WILL SORT OUT THAT EXTRA PASTA.
HAVE A QUESTION, WHY DOES PESTO HAVE TO BE SO GREEN? PUTS ME OFF USING IT.

ANYWAY...ROASTED VEG WITH PASTA IS GORGEOUS. HAVE BEEN EATING IT SINCE WE WERE DISHED IT ON HOLS IN JULY IN A LITTLE TOWN CALLED FIUGGI...QUAINT IF NOT A LITTLE NEGLECTED, BUT DELIGHTFUL!

GATHER ALL THE VEG YOU LIKE...RED PEPPER, COURGETTE, MUSHROOM, ONION, SCALLION (SPRING ONION), YELLOW PEPPER, CHERRY TOMATOES...
TOSS THEM IN A SMALL BIT OF OIL, MAYBE A TABLE SPOON, CHOPPED GARLIC (OR WHOLE CLOVES IF YOU'RE BRAVE LIKE ME) BALSALMIC (SP??) VINEGAR, AND SPRINKLE SOME BASIL AND BLACK PEPPER...
SCRUMDIDLYUMPSHUS!
HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT GAS TIMES ETC...THROW THEM IN THE OVEN TIL THEY SMELL COOKED...SORRY, THATS HOW I DO IT. 20 MINUTES MAYBE??

Hi Emerald, I have only just come across this recipe you posted, sounds a bit like one my wife makes but without the vinegar and cloves. I can't stand the smell of garlic cooking but love eating the stuff especially garlic bread. There again I don't do cooking ... got banned from the kitchen after setting a frying pan on fire.
