Welcome to this community.  You were asking about Florence.
This is an easy city to get about in. Its mostly flat (no hills and hardly any steps to go up and down). If you go to the opening page and look at the photo the wife and I stayed in the hotel at the extreme right of the pic facing the river. There's some beautiful buildings to see, loads of museums, art galleries and churches. Depending on what time of year you visit you might have to queue for some of them. Loads of cafes, restaurants if you want to sit down and rest for a while. Don't know where you and your mum are planning to stay but if its a hotel make sure its got a lift as some of the smaller hotels only have stairs.
