you saw I had no peace within

 all my paintings sold the story

of a jumbled and uncertain past

with no soul, aclaim or glory

 

you thought I'd never change my theme

or shake a future from the past

did you know, I knew not how?

until you cared, or ever asked.

you saw me cry in an alleyway

canvas blank , an empty slate

I could only paint in shades of  grey

 

show me now , dear friend of mine

an enactment of my former glory

a love , a life that could unfold  

and set the art before me
