Apparently its been tossed out the window. I was looking at a site that I usually cruise for local wrestling news. Now they also carry news on WWE and TNA. So I check their site out and find an article by TMZ.com where they suggest that Mark Henry only got the ECW title because of the Michael Hayes incident. *Sigh* Ya know I have no idea if that's true or not, nor do I care, but I have to say it sucks for Mark Henry. The guy has been around the company for 12 or 13 years and finally has the biggest win of his career, and now its gotta be soured with TMZ asking if he only got the title over the Michael Hayes stuff.

i'll provide the article as I saw it.

Mark Henry -- Color Him WWE Champ
Posted Jun 30th 2008 7:40PM by TMZ Staff

When does being hit with racial slurs improve your career? For WWE wrestler Mark Henry, it may have happened last night on PPV.

In April, the WWE suspended writer Michael Hayes for 60 days for telling Henry, "I'm more n***** than you are." Last night -- and one week after Hayes was reinstated -- the twelve-year WWE vet and former Olympian finally got his big moment by winning the company's ECW world title.

That's where the controversy starts.

There's buzz around wrestling blogs that the 400 lb. wrestler that calls himself "The World's Strongest Man" would never have been in line for a title if the racial controversy didn't exist.

The company has only had three other African-American world champions in its entire history. Anyone 'memba The Rock?

WWE hasn't returned our call for comment.

I agree. I always thought Mark Henry did a good job at what hes supposed to be, strong. He's not supposed to wrestle like you know, some wrestling guy and he's not supposed to be snappy like the Rock. But when he got skits in the Nation of Domination he was funny and on cue.

He deserves this win.
