I've often wondered what is appealing about magick to the average practitioner. What drives them forward at dusk unfolding, on their path of no return. Some who where born into magickal family see only normalcy, a way of life seen in our Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, and we. Others come out of their Christian closets and step on the first stone, once the step is taken it can not be un taken,
and the gate is opened.

So what drives people to seek out and join pagan, wiccan, druid and like 'religions'?

I was Pagan born, to pagan parents, from pagan grandparents..I have studied many religions in detail, pulled what truths I could find out of all of them and have applyed them to my personal understanding of my own people and our beliefs, yet I have not changed who, what Iam. Even after years of studying, in librarys, in Churches, in Kingdom halls, and still never baptised in water.

Why do they jump from one drastic to the next manic? Why not from Christians to Muslim, or Jewish? why to Pagan? Why so opossing - other than the stolen holiday argument, why change Gods, and even add some, and then a Goddess or two, where once there was void, or even blasphemy?

Any thoughts?
Blessed be.

Till now,
Sam

I think people go towards what ever draws them in and what makes them feel comfortable and like they belong. Sorry, for such short answer but I am ready to hit the hay for the night.

Hugs,

Erin

In one way, I have been a Druid since 1978, when I joined Emerald Coast Grove in Pensacola, Florida.
In another way, I have been a Druid all my life...since the Druid philosophy matched mine from birth.

Perhaps many within the the Christian, Muslim and Jewish faiths are beginning to think more for themselves and explore other belief systems as a result of these religions being used and corrupted so much by politicians to control the masses.  History is littered with the bodies.  The more free thinking a society is, the harder it is for politicians to sell blind faith to the masses and forbid any interpretation of what that faith is beyond their own.
