Every month for the church newsletter I do something that I call Dawn's ditties so thought I'd share this one with you all....
Dawn’s Ditties
We have a path that our horses walk to and from the barn and for some reason this path zigs an zags and has no rhyme or reason to it and seems to take them forever to get to the barn. I at times grow impatient with them, I want them to find the straightest path to that barn and to me, so I can feed them and care for them and nurture them. God sees us doing that; we zig and zag and take the obstacle course to get to Him, and all He wants from us to get to Him so that He can care for us, so He may nurture us. Our one horse, Echo, an Arabian/Quarter horse, though beautiful is stubborn as can be and he will run from us till he is in a lather just because he’s proud and doesn’t want to give in to us. We do that to, we run from God and from faith because of our stubborn and foolish pride.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.? Proverbs 3:5-6
Sometimes in our lives we get so busy and so focused on our lives that we forget to look to God for help and for strength and for understanding. Have you ever done that? You know that you are moving and going and not stopping. You are on the go and trying to do as much as you can and things start to pile up. And you get more frustrated and more exhausted and you are straining at times to be civil or loving to others. Been there, before?
Sometimes we have to slow our lives down and as the proverb says lean not on our understanding but acknowledge God. Acknowledge means to accept and recognize and not to deny God’s presence in our lives. Some of us our so independent we won’t permit others to help us out and we even go as far to include God in that. God is here, God is present we just have to allow Him into our hearts and into our lives. Open up your hearts, slow down your lives and know that He can and will make our paths straight.
