2 pounds stew beef chunks
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 18oz can tomato soup
1 12 oz can beer
BANAGER'S BEEF STEW

Heat oven to 325

Place beef in bottom of large casserole and sprinkle with a teaspoon of flour or cornstarch, onion soup mix and a teaspoon of ground black pepper.
Add tomato soup and beer. ( I like to sprinkle a bit of chili powder in there also)

cover and bake for 2 hours.

Meanwhile peel 6 medium potatoes and cut into chunks, peel 6 carrots and cut into chunks. After 2 hours, add veggies to stew. Stir. Reduce heat to 300 and bake 1 hour more. Turn oven off and serve in 1/2 hour.
Try it served in a hollowed-out sourdough bread bowl!

Yummers.  Could someone tell me how to make this one in my crack pot?

For a crock pot, you probably just need to add a can of beef broth (which will mostly cook off during the day as it is in the pot).  Then put everything in at once, set the crock pot and forget about it until you get home.

I've never done stew with beer.  What kind of a flavor does it give the stew?

we marinate all our meat in beer - it tenderizes and adds great flavor to steaks.

Plus when you've got so much dang beer around the house, like Rusty and Neumie do, you gotta find creative ways to use it besides just getting shetfaced all the time.

The stew is delicious.  I used liptons MUSHROOM AND ONION SOUP MIX.  And i didn't have tomato soup so I used a small can of hunts tomato sauce.

I opened a 2nd can of beer and added a little extra beer to the recipe.  Then I had 10 ounces of beer left in the can that I had to drink up !  Can't let a good brewski go to waste!

And I used canned whole potatoes, they are good in soups and stews.   I don't like to peel potatoes and neither does my staff of 4 cooks.
