I moved the experimental ~Gay Pagans~ site over to Aimoo.com.  They migrated the site totally in tact.  Everything is the same as you can see by clicking the link, http://msngroup.aimoo.com/GayPagans/_whatsnew.msnw.htm

Absolutely amazing.  Multiply.com spit it out into strips of run over paper!  Hmmm.

We will still do both but it looks like the European host (or wherever) there from is more technically advanced than Multiply but a long shot!

Perhaps Aimoo will be the better of the two after all

Hmmm, it seems that Aimoo takes a snapshot of your old group and sets it aside as a memorial.  The messages may be archived but they are disabled.  A fresh forum is provided (basically a blog) and you use one of their skins.  Some of them aren't bad and then I guess you can use some background design of your choice.  Hmm, okay I guess we'll go for that.

The days of a fully functional free website looking group are over though.  Google is as close to what we have on MSN as we're going to get and they don't support most Markup language.

So, again I'm glad we've got the website that does support many different areas.  If you don't like one room you can go to the next.  These other new services are everything up front with some links to other forums/blogs and that's about it folks, lol!

Times have changed and they've changed drastically.  I didn't know this had become the norm but evidentally it has for free user groups.  I guess I sound like an old timer complaining as to why they don't use real chrome on cars anymore

We'll get started soon so we can figure out how we're going to set things up before MSN pulls the plug.  Also, how we're going to gain new membership.  We won't be nearly as publicly noticed with these new services, especially Multiply.  They use a numeric combination in their site URL's that doesn't allow search engine crawlers so the exposure will be nill and pretty much isolated to whomever is a member of Multiply.  They do have a decent sized community so we'll see.

Hi Brandon,

I have heard about the downfalls of Aimoo..i guess its up to you how you want to proceed with it.

As far as multiply you can change the name of your group to not include numbers etc, i believe you have up to twenty letters you can add to your address for a group.

For example you could put, BackToTheBasics , in your address bar for the group and it will work out perfectly. You just have to start another group and do it from the start.

This can then be promoted on different sites and also added to search engines if you want it to be..You may want to tweak out your welcome message on the first page so that non-members can decide if they are in the right group or not, i would suggest adding the codes from the main page of this group to the welcome page, thus keeping it intact and becoming a sense of familiarity among your members.

Hi Tammy,

Thanks for the advice.  I think I'll leave the What's New Page or "Welcome" page as is because of all of the various links there.  I'm thinking that will work out nicely.  We have already preserved the Home Page on the website.

Not going to get too carried away with the Multiply site.  Is why I hurried up with the website.  Although the the MSN Group shows over 300 members, most of the members are ghosts long forgotten about us many moons ago.  There will only be a handful that migrate with us I'm sure.  So this will be indeed a fresh start.

Will play with the other site tonight and try the BTBBP migration tommorrow.

Thanks!

Brandon
