All ideas and announcements for the new website we'll place here.  I would so much appreciate any input that all may have as we move along with this venture.

I have selected a web package that is full of goodies and a host that I have dealt with for many years.  That does not mean I know what I'm doing mind you  I am having trouble with applying these formulas from code to application to web page

I have chosen programs that are known to get along with others like Ms Sql, ColdFusion, ASP.NET & .Net Framework.

As stated, I have chosen a solid message forum server and a blog server but have no idea how to apply it.  I have also chosen software that supports mobile phone internet so you will be able to access the website from most mobile phones.

More to come and hopefully I'll hear a thing or two from you all

Brandon

Very cool Mark.  I have not come across anyone that has used it before but I like the features and what seems to be a good network of credible organizations.

I am going to try and implement it onto the site later this afternoon...

I can't seem to figure out the setup for WordPress or the generic PHP Forum.  I also can't seem to figure out how to produce the membership profile protocol.

The blog works though  I will do some research and see what I can find out.  In the mean time I'm going to try and get most of the pages loaded up with the pictures.  That's something I can do that won't give me a migraine  The forum uploads are so algebra!!!

The site guideline page requires one to move it to the right to read it.  I cannot seem to bring the margins in.  It is driving me nuts  Does anyone have any objections to having to scroll this page.  It is after all a one time read usually.

Communication:

We will have three "means" of communication.  All other communication can be expounded on the "user groups" like MSN/GOOGLE or MySpace/Facebook.

The first is a blog which is multiple topic of course.  The "General Forum" is labeled as such.

The third is labeled, "Rural Outreach" or we could label it "Urban/Rural Outreach."  Hmmm, kinda like the later.  My thinking is this is where we can funnel all of our projects whether "Meth" or other substances, and "HIV Treatments," etc.

Mind you we will keep the Meth Outreach in its own capacity, and another webpage I think for other outreach projects.  I would like some ideas on this as my mind is going in too many different directions and I need to refine the ideas.

What do you all think of the minimized forums.  This seems to be the trend and of course we want to keep up with the trend.  I think it is important and I believe Ed agrees that the communication should be refined and poignant regarding the website.  The website blog is the known place where commentary can flourish.  If I have this wrong, let me know.  I am new to the trends of communication these days.  I have sit in my corner with MSN Groups entirely too long  The user groups like this one can remain as casual as they've always been.  That is the point of having them and we'll keep them for that very reason.

Wow!  All is quiet on the front.  It seems Ed and Michael are posting as usual; thank you

The website is basically complete folks, with the forums and blog up and running.  You can post as you wish.  They are open to the public.

There are obviously a-lot of things we want to do.  In fact when we can afford a better web developer plan we will purchase it; so there will always be work to do on the website.  You could consider it a living organism.  I will concentrate on some tags that will make the robots at Google, MSN, and Yahoo crawl and file our site appropriately on their search engines and hopefully we will win their support to be placed closer to the front of their search outcomes, especially for gltbq addiction and health issues.

The introduction page will be nice once we get it figured out.  I cannot for the life of me understand "flash player" technology.  When I do, it will produce a moving presentation of what the site and foundation is all about.  The ~Home Page~ will somehow be preserved as a historical web document to show where we came from.  A user group for years to an aspiring website and non-profit corporation.  I think the museum "Home Page" would be a nice contrast to the futuristic flash player introduction.

Okay, it's been an exhausting weekend and there is much more to do.  Setting up a monetary processor will be one of the next steps for the website/Back to the Basics Please and I have to find out from the bank what will be easier and more cost effective.

We need people who will become involved.  We can find something for you regardless of your time or schedule issues.  If you can't keep up with the demands of organizing a state or area, we can use help with attracting members!

These user groups are going to continue to be a great source of exposure to the foundation.  So, even though MSN is dropping their "Groups," we will see what these other hosts are all about.  I have heard mixed reviews about Multiply but we'll try it and see for ourself.  There is also Aimoo which looks somewhat interesting.  Meanwhile Ed has made great progress with the Google Group and the Facebook profile.  I am trying my best to keep up with the MySpace profile but it has taken a back seat recently.

You will notice that some of the webpages under the ~Home~ page are funnelled into the MSN Group.  I believe the "Esoteric Spirit" and the "Personal's" pages are linked and funnelled back into the the MSN forums.  This leaves the website for specific target issues like our "Urban to Rural Outreach" program and the "Meth Outreach" program.

The website and foundation will be targeted at assisting those who need health options.  As well it will assist those who may not have the same options in rural America as they may have in urban cities.  Whether the individual is in need of treatments or options for HIV or addiction doesn't matter. We also want to advocate for the sexual minority community to assure the appropriate resources are getting to the individual.  The individual that needs these various services.

Lots of work to do folks.  I'm hoping more will step up so that we can accomplish what we have set out to do.  It is after all a part of any recovery program, whether recovering from addiction, a physical illness, or bereavement.  When we recover, we help others do the same.

This remarkable trait of the human spirit to help others through the difficulty that we once stumbled through is what getting Back to the Basics Place Please off the ground is and has always been about!

I have a-lot to owe to those who helped me recover from a mind boggling addiction.  Each and every one of them who I am still in contact with have said to thank them is to pursue the worthwhile cause of supporting others when they need it!

I figured out the flash player introduction and threw a design together.  Will play with it more later but at least we have a futuristic introduction with a brief explanation of what we're all about.  Now that this flash intro has been established I'd like to preserve the original ~Home Page~ as where we started.  Any ideas as to what to call it would be great

Anyhow, check out the new flash intro and let me know what you think, www.backtothebasicsplease.  I tried to download some commerce type files to the site but there are some configuration problems with conflicting software.  Imagine that

More to come of course.  Goodnight everybody

Some of the graphics are still linked into the MSN Group  Can someone tell me if everything is on the pages using their own computer?

I would appreciate it

Disregard Msg #27.  I have found out for myself  We will be making arrangements with PayPal.  That inclusion will be the next application to the new website.

Anyone interested in assisting with the development of the new foundation should think of organizations or individuals that would donate "any" amount of money.  In the future, we may sponsor drives for gifts/food, etc.

We need networkers!  We need state representatives for the "Meth Outreach" program and the new "Rural to Urban Outreach."

It would be nice if you all at least signed the guestbook on the new website.  It is located on the left panel after you open the home page

Much more to come

The merchant account is glitching.  Their software is not configuring with the site software but I will try my best to get it worked out over the weekend.  See the "Contact" page until then if you would like to send something

We will officially be a business as of tomorrow.  I have found a corporate lawyer who may be interested in donating time to filling out the paperwork for non-profit status.

I really can't believe how things have just fallen into place.  We simply need more people to get the message out there and to help find people and organizations who may wish to work with us or who need our services.

You will see that the ~Urban to Rural Outreach~ & the ~Meth Outreach~ pages have been changed to reflect the website and our new allowances.  Also the ~Urban to Rural Outreach~ forum was changed to a Word Press blog so that the RSS (subscriptions) option could be integrated.

Again, the site has received over 10,000 hits but no other activity.  This MSN Group received over a 1000 hits in less than two days but no activity.  I don't understand unless as some have said, everyone is sitting back waiting for the migration to Multiply.com

We will migrate to Multiply soon.  I'm not thrilled with the lack of website options but they are quite the community.  Thousands upon thousands of members and Groups so we'll see.

Please do sign the guestbook at least on the new site so it looks as if something is happening

Thank you

Brandon

Our site numbers are increasing a bit after a lull during the holiday.  What is interesting is the time of day that the site is being hit the most, especially on the weekends.

We are getting hit after the bars close in most states....Something to ponder....

Notice that we get a slight increase at 0800 in the morning, perhaps after places check my e-mails trying to get them to the site then we flatten out, start to pick up in the afternoon and evening and then boom!  The spike between midnight and 0300 in the morning is enormous!
