Wow! All is quiet on the front. It seems Ed and Michael are posting as usual; thank you
The website is basically complete folks, with the forums and blog up and running. You can post as you wish. They are open to the public.
There are obviously a-lot of things we want to do. In fact when we can afford a better web developer plan we will purchase it; so there will always be work to do on the website. You could consider it a living organism. I will concentrate on some tags that will make the robots at Google, MSN, and Yahoo crawl and file our site appropriately on their search engines and hopefully we will win their support to be placed closer to the front of their search outcomes, especially for gltbq addiction and health issues.
The introduction page will be nice once we get it figured out. I cannot for the life of me understand "flash player" technology. When I do, it will produce a moving presentation of what the site and foundation is all about. The ~Home Page~ will somehow be preserved as a historical web document to show where we came from. A user group for years to an aspiring website and non-profit corporation. I think the museum "Home Page" would be a nice contrast to the futuristic flash player introduction.
Okay, it's been an exhausting weekend and there is much more to do. Setting up a monetary processor will be one of the next steps for the website/Back to the Basics Please and I have to find out from the bank what will be easier and more cost effective.
We need people who will become involved. We can find something for you regardless of your time or schedule issues. If you can't keep up with the demands of organizing a state or area, we can use help with attracting members!
These user groups are going to continue to be a great source of exposure to the foundation. So, even though MSN is dropping their "Groups," we will see what these other hosts are all about. I have heard mixed reviews about Multiply but we'll try it and see for ourself. There is also Aimoo which looks somewhat interesting. Meanwhile Ed has made great progress with the Google Group and the Facebook profile. I am trying my best to keep up with the MySpace profile but it has taken a back seat recently.
You will notice that some of the webpages under the ~Home~ page are funnelled into the MSN Group. I believe the "Esoteric Spirit" and the "Personal's" pages are linked and funnelled back into the the MSN forums. This leaves the website for specific target issues like our "Urban to Rural Outreach" program and the "Meth Outreach" program.
The website and foundation will be targeted at assisting those who need health options. As well it will assist those who may not have the same options in rural America as they may have in urban cities. Whether the individual is in need of treatments or options for HIV or addiction doesn't matter. We also want to advocate for the sexual minority community to assure the appropriate resources are getting to the individual. The individual that needs these various services.
Lots of work to do folks. I'm hoping more will step up so that we can accomplish what we have set out to do. It is after all a part of any recovery program, whether recovering from addiction, a physical illness, or bereavement. When we recover, we help others do the same.
This remarkable trait of the human spirit to help others through the difficulty that we once stumbled through is what getting Back to the Basics Place Please off the ground is and has always been about!
I have a-lot to owe to those who helped me recover from a mind boggling addiction. Each and every one of them who I am still in contact with have said to thank them is to pursue the worthwhile cause of supporting others when they need it!
