It has become obvious that both Group managers and MSN Group members have left or ignored their Groups now that MSN has announced that they will close their groups in February.

The attention is placed on Multiply.com and whether or not they are a viable alternative.  I have heard mixed reviews and I have chosen to hold off on migrating until Multiply.com works out their glitches.  We are a very large group so if we have a chance for a successful migration I am estimating that a migration the first week in December would increase our chances.

Remember, the MSN Group will stay put until MSN pulls the plug February 21st.  When I push the button for migration you will be notified by Multiply to apply for a new Mulitply.com membership and of course this will open your membership with our group.  You have the option of staying with the MSN Group until they close or move over to the Multiply Group or both.  The choice is yours.

We will also do the same thing in January with a migration to Aimoo.com.  I'm interested to see what they have to offer and if I'm not mistaken they're an Austrailian company.  A group with them could possibly give us a new audience all together.  So we'll see.

As a computer geek, I find all of this stuff fascinating although I'll be saddened to see MSN Groups go away.  Also remember we have the new Google Group which Ed has done very well with.  I'm curious to see if we can gain new members there; however, Google is struggling with their "groups" in an overly competitive market.  Everyone wants your membership!

Okay, the Google Group and the website, www.backtothebasicsplease.com was built with quite a bit of material transferred over from this MSN Group.  Once MSN shuts the power down in February, those features will suddenly dissappear.  In the mean time I will need to devote the tireless energy to rebuilding these sites by uploading images and tables from my hard drive and simply rebuilding so that we don't lose webpage tables, pictures, and graphics come Feb 21st!  The links are particularly numerous and that is a time consuming ordeal.

Okay, here I am geeking out on all this stuff, so enough already.

If we ever needed your opinions, we really need them now!

I will start a different thread but this something to start pondering???   Once, we establish a budget, we will keep our expenses as low as we can.  Much of the equipment that we have is brand new thanks to Eddie (our new corporate secretary) so we will need to ponder what projects we would like to get involved with first.  Whether helping an individual receive appropriate resources, sponsoring events, attending seminars or building them, and being an advocate for the people of our community.

We need ideas and suggestions where ever we can get them.  If we network well, and receive good funding and donations, we can work to acheive many things for our community.

The more people that we can bring on board the better off we're going to be.

More later,

Brandon
