Welcome to the new forum, HIV HEALTH.  In the hopes of educating and discussing the many issues revolving around HIV, we offer this forum to new ideas, good discussion, and a place of comfort to discuss the sensitive issues that come with the subject of HIV.

No matter your status, HIV affects us all.  It is an ever evolving and dangerous retrovirus strain that seems to almost out think current trends in medical advancement.

There is a current trend of apathy and a lack of concern by "some" who are misunderstood.  Some may think that HIV is a manageable disease.  For some this may be true; however, managing this disease comes with consequences and side effects of medications that are as bad if not worse than the symptoms of HIV itself.  For others, there are new strains of HIV that are highly resistent to current medical therapies and create an onset of AIDS almost immediately after initial HIV infection for many.

HIV infection is not to be pushed under the carpet.  Do not think for a moment that you are immune to it if you are negative.  Do not think for a moment that the infection of it is no big deal.  It is a big deal!

Our best defense currently is to concentrate on HIV infection "prevention".  Infection is on the rise at a time when we need to push the disease it into a corner where it cannot be spread and concentrate on a cure, as well as therapies that more effectively manage the symptoms of infection.  Every time the virus infects into a new host (a body) it finds new ways to become resistent to therapies and finds new ways to become stronger.

We are in this together folks.  Like substance abuse and the recovery from it, we share the responsibility of taking care of our community.  If we can't do that, we have no community.

There is no excuse for apathy and lack of concern when there is so much at stake and so many in need of a helping hand.  There is no "us" and "them".  There is only a "we" and "we" need to get Back to the Basics Please!
