Hello I&I..    I've been fighting with my computer lately, not an enjoyable thing to do....having all kinds of problems...  very slow...pages don't  load....E-drive sometimes completely dissappears only to show up later... Xupiter showing up but since I posted here I have found out a little more.  It tracks and gathers information about your internet viewing habits and reports back to advertisers so they can better target you with adds and free offers that pertain to your interests.  Now I have to figure out how to get rid of it!! Plus, there is another one called GATOR that showed up when I did a search,  also tracks your web page interests.     Apple might be better than what I have.  Talk later, take care.....Dacdao

I just got my new computer, and I don't like XP either. Don't see it as an improvement over Win98. My grandson likes it, but I'm still trying to figure it out. Must be an age thing.

Hey DAC, don't be such a stranger. Isn't there supposed to be some sort of filter that can be used to screen out those programs which track your usage. Let me check with a few of those young computing nerds, when I get back to work on Tuesday, and I'll see what they say about your problem with Xupiter.

Not exactly computer illiterate, but I too had some problems disabling things which were not a problem with my old Windows 98 browser, and I don't see any special advantage to having XP. I wouldn't pay for it, if I had a trial run, or a choice.

I'm familiar with Gator and Xupiter.  Whenever I run Morpheus, it tries to install Xupiter.

Use the following link and download Lavasoft's Ad-Aware.  Run it on your hard drives.  When it gets done, it'll show a listing of probable spyware, scumware, and suspect cookies.  Delete what ever is in the list by placing a checkmark beside them (unless you recognize it as something different).  I run Ad-Aware every two weeks (you can set it up in your Scheduled Tasks---Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Scheduled Tasks).

Also, you can download the RefUpdate program, to automatically update Ad-Aware whenever they put out a new spyware/scumware reference file.

PS - Make sure to choose to scan your memory, and both the quick scan and deep scan on your registry.
