Sami's eyes fluttered open.  Lucas was still asleep beside
her, snoring softly.  A wave of nausea hit her hard.  She
grimaced and headed for the bathroom.

As she retched in what seemed like endless heaves, Lucas
appeared at her side.

"Sami?  Are you okay?" he asked in a concerned voice.

"I puking my guts up, Lucas.  What do you think?" she
moaned.

Stepping to the bathroom sink, he filled a paper cup with
water.  "Here, you can rinse your mouth."

Sami reached and took the water.  "Thanks, Lucas."  She
rinsed her mouth and ran a hand over her sweaty face.

"I feel absolutely miserable," she whispered weakly.  She
gagged and then started vomiting again.

Lucas knelt down beside her, and pulled her hair out of her
face.

When she had finally stopped vomiting, Lucas helped her
back to bed and got her settled.

"I'm going to get you some chicken soup, Sprite, and
crackers to see if that will help settle your stomach down.
You must have a virus."

Sami nodded and closed her eyes.  She felt absolutely
miserable.

In the kitchen, Lucas heated some chicken and rice soup in
the microwave.  While it was heating, he placed a glass of
Sprite and a plate of crackers on a tray.  When the soup was
done, he placed the bowl on the tray and carried it into the
bedroom.

"Here you go, Sami," he said softly.  He sat the tray over
her lap, then he got back in bed beside her.  "Go slow and
see if it will stay down."

Sami sipped some Sprite, then spooned up some of the
broth.  It seemed to make her stomach feel a little better.
She picked up a cracker and nibbled on it.

"How does you stomach feel now, Sami?" asked Lucas
after Sami had eaten for a few minutes.

"Actually, it feels better now than I have something in it."
She shook her head.

Lucas recalled that Sami had been bulimic at one time.  He
hoped that problem wasn't resurfacing.  She had been under
a lot of stress with losing so many members of her family in
such a short time.  His stomach rumbled nosily and he
blushed.

"Go get something to eat, Lucas, I'll be fine," Sami assured
him.

"Okay, if you need anything, just call me," said Lucas.  He
kissed her on the forehead, and went to get some breakfast.

When Sami had finished her food, she was surprised at how
well she now felt.  She carried the tray into the kitchen.
Lucas quickly got up and took the tray.

"Are you sure you should be up?  You were pretty sick this
morning," said Lucas.

"I feel okay now," she answered.  "I don't know what upset
my stomach, but the food you fixed made me feel a lot
better."

He pulled her into his arms.  "I'm glad you feel better,
tomorrow is family day at Will's camp.  I'd hate for you to
have to miss that."

"I'd hate to miss it too."  She picked up the calendar that
they used to keep track of all their activities.  She looked,
and then gasped.

"Oh no!"  She dropped the calendar and put her hands over
her face.

"What's wrong, hon?" asked Lucas.
She pointed to a red P on the calendar.  Lucas knew that
was how she tracked her period......it should have come
over a week ago.

"I've been so caught up in our happiness, I never thought
about my period not coming," she said with tears streaming
down her face.
