Chapter 2
Sami looked up at him, tears still streaming down her face. "I'm never late, and when I was pregnant with Will, the morning sickness hit hard and unexpectedly."
Lucas pulled her into his arms. "It'll be okay, Sami. I love you and nothing is going to change that." He pulled back and lifted her face to look at him. "This baby was created in a celebration of our love for each other. I could never regret that and I hope you won't ever regret it either."
She looked into his eyes and saw a strong, abiding love. He bent down and kissed her softly. "I'll go to the drugstore and pick up a pregnancy test kit. That way, we can know for sure. You stay here and rest. Don't worry, everything is going to be fine."
"It's all my fault," she said softly. "I should have used some form of birth control."
Lucas hugged her tight. "It's not your fault. I didn't use a condom. Besides if what they taught us in biology is right, it takes two to make a baby." He kissed her again. "I'll get the test and be right back."
Sami watched Lucas walk out the door. How could this have happened. It could ruin their relationship. She put both hands on her flat stomach. A brand new life was growing in her body. A life that she and Lucas had created.........
When Lucas got back to the apartment, he saw Sami looking at a light blue book. He walked up and looked over her shoulder.
"Hey, Will's baby book," said Lucas.
Sami looked up at him. "Yeah, I got it out and was remembering his early years."
Lucas got quiet and stared at the page with Will's "firsts" recorded on it.
Sami looked up at him, and felt deep remorse. "I still don't see how you can ever forgive me for all the lies about Will."
Lucas sat down beside her, drawing her close. "I can forgive you because I love you. The strength of my love for you overpowers all of that." He kissed her tenderly, then pulled back.
"Here's the kit. Why do you read the directions and take the test," he said encouragingly.
She reached for the bag with trembling hands. She pulled the package out and opened it carefully. Lucas sat with an arm around her as she read the directions. When she finished, she pulled the test out of the box.
"No time like the present," she said quietly. "I'll be right back, Lucas."
"I'll be here," he answered.
Lucas waited nervously. He was worried that Sami would not take pregnancy well. He was thrilled at the prospect of them having a child. This would be a child that was conceived in love. He could envision a little girl with curly blond hair and blue eyes that looked a lot like Sami.
His train of thought was broken as Sami walked back into the living room and handed him the test.
