As many of you know, MSN is closing the groups on February 21st of next year which means if we all want to stay together as a group, we have to find a place to call home.
I spent a lot of time this past weekend, checking sites out and setting up new sites but I'd like to get your opinions since you'll be the ones using the site, along with me of course.
I'm going to list the sites in the order which is my preference.
You should all be able to access these sites without joining, if you just want to check them out or you can join and leave a message so you can try them out.
I'll tell you why I like or don't like the sites I'm listing and I still may have more sites to add to the list so if you guys don't like any of these sites, we'll try and find something you do like.
Ok, so here goes.
I like this site because you can add pictures to your messages, as long as they're first uploaded on the web.
You can even go to the properties of a picture and copy and paste it's url to a message in a new thread. Of course we don't want to copy and paste someone's picture unless you're given permission because that's stealing bandwidth.
Messages are much more organized. You can set up separate messages to discuss various topics like Days, spoilers, or anything in general.
You can spruce up your message if you like or add icons.
It has a picture gallery although I may be the only one who can add pictures to it and if that's the case, it will be for daily screen caps.
This is my first choice because I was able to give it the name, Days of our Lives.
This has been our backup site for the groups and works basically the same way as my first choice. Both sites were developed by the same company except the first site is a free site to me and all of you and this site is free to only you. You need to have a host site in order to set up this second choice, which I've done and have to pay a monthly fee in order to keep it going.
Don't think about the money when making your choices since this site stays no matter what. It's just something I set up for my own personal enjoyment.
Another difference between this site and my first choice site is it doesn't have a picture gallery, although I do have a gallery which is connected to my host site but I'm not sure I want to use it because I'm afraid of bandwith theft.
Another disadvantaged to using this site rather then my first choice site is the fact that it's called "SherylsPage" and no one will really connect it to Days unless you know me from this group.
My third choice is that multiply site.
There's not too many plus's to this site except it has a photo album.
We could make good use of the album but I do not like the message board set up.
There's no orginazation.
So if you get a chance and want to try out any of these sites, please let me know what you think.
