I think it is some theory to correct the errors that Max called him out on in his book at the book signing. Information that will enable Max and Nike to perfect Nick's project.

'cuz I really don't. this whole storyline is one big boring zero. since when does a cop find out about a will of a dead man, and then have the dead man's lawyer flown to the police station to read the will???????????? So now we interrogate suspects in the pub, and we have will readings at the police station..... no wonder Salem is so screwed up.

LOL....seriously....it is could be almost anything....a family heirloom, evidence against his real killer(s), money, stock certificates, mementos from Max's childhood (ones that aren't decaying...lol) or an autographed copy of his book. Or maybe it is just an empty box sent to torture Max some more from the grave.
