Anyone watching the political conventions? Unlike the olympics that was only on NBC, the conventions seem to be covered by all networks. Whoopie! Well thank goodness for DVDs. |

I watched bits and pieces of the Obama one that was getting ready to start, but not a lot of it. I missed hearing his wife speak. |

I have been watching and am finding it very interesting. I did't think I would enjoy it but I am. I too thought Michelle Obama was great as was Hillary and Bill Clinton. I also really like Joe Biden and am glad he is on the ticket. We need a change! |

I have only caught portions of it so far. It turns me off how all these politicians who were back biting each other, and telling the nation how their opponent wasn't ready to lead and is deficient in so many ways, are now laying on the compliments....and being his running mate! I keep thinking, the mark of a good politician isn't his/her policies, track record or opinions....but how well he/she delivers a speech and sucks up. I am sure the RNC will be just as full of balogne as the DNC. We all have to be careful not to buy for the packaging, look underneith and pick the candidate with the most substance and best track record. |

What I find disturbing about the convention and the whole campaigning is how much money is being spent for the campaign and the convention. I couldn't believe the elaborate platform they built in that stadium with Greek Columns in the background. |

I feel that before a candidate is chosen to represent his or her party it is almost necessary and assumed that they would have to "backstab" each other during the debates, etc. You wouldn't expect the candidates to praise each other during such times. After a candidate is chosen, the forgive and forget attitude is always chosen. |

They shouldn't be allowed to do all the backstabbing and backbiting that they do. Tell me what you can do for me. Don't tell me what the other guy can't do for me. That is my biggest gripe about politics. I hate the attack ads. I don't know when that crap started but it shouldn't be allowed to happen. It'll be interesting with the RNC in here next week. They are always looking for the Minnesota connection. If Tim Pawlenty gets the VP nod the local news stations will go crazy with it. |

Well Jay Leno definitely watched the convention and reap a heap of material for his dialogue. My favorite was his reference to Hillary's speech as "I Had a Dream". lol Hats off to Hillary she certainly did make a great effort to be the Democratic Candidate and I have to respect her for that. I also have a lot of respect for the way Obama made positive remarks about McCain. I agree with feistyredhead that the negativity in political ads turn me off even if they're true. I believe a candidate should convince me that they have the qualities and integrity to be President of the United States of America and will move our country forward on all fronts both on the home front and foreign affairs. |

I'm with Terri 100%!! I hat the negative adds, especially the senator campaign add attacks going on in MN right now. The finger pointing is getting way way way out of hand. |

This election has been so long and I'm so sick of the polls, the polls, the polls and the red states and the blue states and the media putting their spin on everything. I have my absentee ballot and will fill it out this evening. Que sera, sera. I find it hardest to vote on the judges and judges are important. There just never is enough information about them probably because they are non-partisan. Whoever wins has a rough four years ahead of them. |
