Does anyone have a good old southern chicken n dumplins recipe???

My mom just says boil a whole chicken...when its done take it out then make your biscuit dough (ok I have tried homemade bicuits but they never turn out like hers!!!). roll it, cut it and put it in the chicken water adn boil it...

Can someone give me that version in an actual recipe...like a 1/4 cup of this, etc??? LOL I need help!

I have been craving them for weeks now!!!

Tricia, this link will take you to a recipe that I have used for years. It does best in an electric skillet, if you have one. It's delicious!

Oh how cool!!! I love Cracker Barrels cnd!!!! Love it! But one question...what's a dutch oven? I thought that was a crock pot but I guess not!!!

Thank you so much Keen!!!! I will have to try yours and the cracker barrel one.

I wouldn't try Ray's one just cause it has so much in it that I don't eat! :)

Thanks again!

Ah Ha! So its a pot with a lid on it! LOL. I do have two of them...ones just a pot with the handles and a lid so I guess that's a dutch oven...and the other is a chili pot but same thing handles on side and lid.

They are both Calphalon which on the first sight you sent me to had the one I have listed...

That's sad...I had no clue they were called dutch ovens! Now I can make the CND Cracker Barrel style...LOL!!!!

Why don't they just call it a pot with handles and a lid? LOL...

LOL! Hey I have felt the same way about certain things. I was scared to death of fresh garlic for years! People made it sound so difficult to peel them. All I do is use a darn knife and it's done. I don't need a garlic press or any other gadget.

Another one is a "double-boiler." You don't have to buy one of those. All you need is a pot with some boiling water, then a smaller pot that fits into it on top to put the food in. The top pot just can't sink down into the water is all. I melt chocolate that way. I put the chocalate in the top pot and it works perfect.

Sorry I made the thread so wide. I think now that you know what that is, I'll delete that post, in case others want to respond to your thread.

No problem on the thread being wide...I didn't even notice!!!

Thank you so much!!!

You are so welcome! If you make one of the recipes from Recipezaar, I know that the poster of the recipe would appreciate your honest review of the recipe. You can review each recipe at the the bottom of the page. You might have to register first, by going to the home page but membership is free. There's a place at the top of the page to join.

It's a really cool site. I store all of my recipes on that site.

Watch out! You will become addicted! LOL!

They changed the format recently and I'm still trying to get familiar with it. I like the old format better, but maybe it's just because I was so use to it.

They have forums that you can find at the bottom of the home page. They are listed in the Community section. I like to click "Other" in the forum section and go to the Community Cafe. They talk about everything there. I haven't gone much lately. Been too busy hanging here and on Idol boards.

I'm so glad that the recipe was great for you. I usually know from a recipe what I will like, but I've tried some things that I haven't ever tried before and sometimes I'll make a recipe from there that isn't the best.

I'm keen5 over there too.

Since you said you liked it so much, I have added it to my cookbook at recipezaar.
