My whole family loves this recipe - and it's easy!!

Sweet Tooth Pork

Shoulder / Butt Pork roast cubed into bite-sized peices (or buy pre-cut pork stir-fry meat)

2 tbsp oil
seasoning salt
1/2 cup ketchup
3 tbsp vinegar
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup margerine or butter
1 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tbsp corn-starch
3 tbsp cold water
1 cup chopped green pepper
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup pineapple if desired

1)Coat meat with oil, add seasoning salt and brown in a 375 degree oven for 35-45 mins.
2)Meanwhile, combine the brown sugar, margerine (melted), soy sauce, chilli powder, dry mustard, and vinegar in pot. Bring to a boil and simmer.
3)Mix corn-starch and water together, blend in with mixture in pot, bring to a boil and stir until thickened.
4) After meat has been in oven for 35-45 mins, lower temperature to 300 degrees, add any peppers, onions and pineapple if desired.
5)Add sauce mixture to meat and cook for another 20 mins.

* the amounts for green peppers and onions are approximate - use as much or little as you want.

* I always double the sauce mixture - I like things saucy.

*serve over a bed of rice!

Sour Cream-Noodle Casserole

I got this recipe from an old Southern Living cookbook. My family enjoys this casserole. I used Ricotta cheese instead of cottage cheese, since my kids hated cottage cheese.

1 (8    ounces) package medium noodles
1   lb lean ground beef
2   tablespoons butter
1   teaspoon salt
1/4   teaspoon pepper
1/4   teaspoon garlic salt
1 (8    ounces) can tomato sauce
1   cup cream-style cottage cheese (I used Ricotta)
1   cup sour cream
1/2   cup green onions
3/4   cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1. Cook noodles in boiling salted water according to package directions.
2. Rinse and drain.
3. In skillet, brown meat in butter.
4. Add salt, pepper and garlic salt, then tomato sauce.
5. Simmer for 5 minutes.
6. Combine cottage cheese, sour cream, chopped onion and noodles.
7. Alternate layers of noodle mixture and meat mixture in a 2-quart casserole, beginning with noodles and ending with meat.
8. Top with shredded Cheddar cheese.
9. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until cheese is melted and browned.

8 servings
55 minutes ( 25 mins prep time, 30 mins cook time )

Yvette, I just put a little bit of the chiles, then a layer of cheese, then chiles, then cheese until it is all used up. It is really good!! Let me know how you like it. Andf also, the chiles are in the ig size cans, like a regular can is in size, 12 oz I think. Not one of the small ones.

Bean Casserole

1 pound hamburger meat
Onion
1 can French style green beans
1 can tomato soup
6-10 potatoes
grated cheese
1 egg

Cut up potatoes to boil and make mashed potatoes.  Add egg after mixing ingredients for mashed potatoes and set aside.

Brown meat, add onion, drain it if you need to.  Add green beans and tomato soup and heat.

Put hamburger meat mixture into casserole dish (13 x 9 ), add potatoes and cook at 350 for 20 minutes, add cheese for another 10 and done.

My son's 3rd grade teacher gave me this recipe.

Mix together the following ingredients:

2 cups oatmeal
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
2 tbs flour
1/2 tsp salt

Add 2 sticks melted butter.....stir
Add 2 eggs (slightly beaten).....stir
Add 3tsp vanilla.....stir
Add 1 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans.....stir

Line a cookie sheet with foil.
Spoon dough onto the cookie sheet using a regular size spoon. Spread at least 4 inches apart. Cookies spread alot while cooking.

Bake @ 325 degrees for 14 - 20 minutes (depending on oven)

Remove foil with cookies and set aside to cool. Place a new sheet of foil onto the cookie sheet for each pan of cookies.

These are really good cookies. I hope that you enjoy them.

Remove the cookies from the foil after they have cooled.

Suki, I hope you like it. I've been getting a lot of reviews on it over at Recipezaar lately. I've had it posted for awhile, but recently it's been reviewed more. It must be the need for comfort food this time of year.

Chili-Cheese Steaks

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 lbs. beef round steak, cut about 1-inch thick, cut into 6 pieces
1/4 cup shortening
2 cups chopped onions
1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes (I use crushed, but any kind is fine)
1 (4 ounce) package shredded sharp cheddar cheese (1 cup)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In cup, combine flour, salt, chili powder and pepper.
  3. Trim any excess fat from round steak; place meat on board and sprinkle with some flour mixture.
  4. With meat mallet or edge of saucer, pound mixture into meat.
  5. (This helps tenderize it).
  6. Turn and repeat on other side.
  7. In 10 inch skillet over medium-high heat, in hot shortening, cook meat until well browned on all sides; remove meat to board.
  8. In drippings, cook onions until browned; stir in remaining flour mixture.
  9. Spoon onion mixture into a large shallow casserole.
  10. Arrange steaks on top, then add tomatoes and their liquid.
  11. Cover and bake 1-1/2 hours or until meat is fork-tender.
  12. Spoon any fat from casserole.
  13. Sprinkle steaks with cheese.
  14. Heat 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
