                                 SANGRIA

In a sauce pan add 1 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar.  Boil for 1 min and remove from heat.

Add to the liquid 1 sliced lemon, 1 sliced lime, 1 sliced orange, and approx 10 sliced strawberries.  Leave fruit in the liquid at least 4 hours covered.

Remove fruit from liquid and add 1/4 cup brandy and 1 bottle of semi dry red wine (Livingston table wine works well).

Place some slices of fresh fruit in each glass and serve.

I usually double or triple the recipe if I make this for a larger group.

*Also depending on the season, the fruit may not add enough sweetness, so I sometimes add a little apple juice or orange juice.  This seems to always turn out a little different each time.  I end up tasting and adding different fruit juices.

Hot Buttered Rum Mix
This is much less expensive than a commercial brand.

1 lb. butter
2 lbs. brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
rum
boiling water

  1. Soften butter and mix with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.
  2. Refrigerate or freeze.
  3. For each serving, use 1 tablespoon of the mix, 1/2 ounce to 1 1/2 ounces of rum and 6 ounces boiling water.

Makes 6 cups.

Oh that sounds good....

Since its a good time of year for Hot Toddies I thought I would add this quick easy one. I make it a drink at a time...Use equal parts of Apple Cider and Blush Wine (Such as White Zin)

Bring Apple Cider with a Cinnamon Stick to a boil.  Add eqaul part of Wine and serve...YUMMY!
