Judging is part of what we do here, Chelle. The Managers here have decided that the difference is in WHAT it is that we judge.
We do not judge the actor personally - that means, what he looks like, or what he does in his private life. We DO judge the actor's performance, because that is in the public domain of the show. If he does a lousy job making his character believable, or if he makes his character annoying, or if his portrayal of a long-standing character does not measure up to a previous actor's portrayal, then it is certainly OK to say so.
EXAMPLE - NOT OK -
"This actor is way too skinny"
"This actor has a ridiculous looking nose"
"This actor is a total jerk".
EXAMPLE - OK -
"This character was played better by so-and-so"
"This actor has changed the character to being totally annoying"
"This actor is just not believable when he pretends to cry"
It is always interesting to see what an actor makes of a long-standing character when he takes over the role, and we do enjoy lively discussions on the matter.
