I was married to a wonderful woman for 30 years.  We split, amicably as we had different goals, etc.  The "nice" thing is that we stay in touch and are friends.  She has remarried as have I.

Recently, her father passed away.  He was visiting my "ex's" sister in Virginia, during Christmas.  Short story is that he fell, went into the hospital to repair his damaged hip and, because of lousy treatment, went into a coma, couldn't take food and passed away yesterday.  There is a VERY good case for lawsuit due to neglect and I hope they persue it.  I guess I just need to vent a bit.  I worked with and for Ray for many years.  He was a Navy guy and a hero in more than one way.  I'll miss him, his humour, his advice and the times we shared together.  While I know "No one gets out of this life alive," it still hurts when you lose someone you love.

Unfortunately we are getting to the age that a lot of our friends and relative are dying off. Some of my relatives I will not see until their funeral.  My wife's mother (Lt. Linda's) was  one of the nicest mother-in-laws anyone could ask for. She was a Southern Lady in every sense of the word.  I actually enjoyed her visits to our home in the summer. Her soft Alabama accent and excellent meals she cooked up for us will be missed.  She would come out and spend a week with us, a week with one of her sons and a week with the other son. She didn't tell us how to raise our kids, or how to keep our house. She was just there to see her grandkids and love her children. What a wonderful woman. She is missed.
