Well Duke the Dog's long wait is over. His master is home. And now the 3 mile, every day, walks will begin again. That dog is going to keep me healthy if it kills me. LOL
The company I worked for up in Alaska messed up so much that they lost the contract we were working on. But I got caught with a month of paid up rent on my apartment so I just stayed up there and spent every other day at the range. Did a lot of sight seeing and picture taking. What a easy going month it was. And when the weather was bad I just cranked up my little loading press and added ammo to my bunker. With Lt. Linda back in Colorado I had no extra chores to do and I got to watch anything I wanted on the TV. (except the day soap opras are just as bad up in Alaska as any other state.) Finally I shipped out, dropping my Ford Explorer off at the Anchorage dock to be shipped by boat to Washington and then by truck to Denver. I then called a cab and spent 5 boring hours in the International Airport of Alaska waiting for my 11:30 PM (Feb. 28) flight. And wouldn't you know it but I got to be the filling in a sandwich of two guys as big as me and we were elbow to elbow and knee to knee for the whole trip. Arrived at Denver International Airport at 0635 am Friday (Feb 29) and called PFC Trent to crank up the truck and bring me home. With no sleep in the plane I hit the sack as soon as I gave Lt. Linda a couple of kisses. Woke up Saturday around noon. And in my own bed again. WOW what a good feeling. But it wasn't going to last long. As soon as I was up and around Lt. Linda presented me with the list of things I needed to do. From cars that needed servicing and repairing to boxes of things I shipped home that had to be unloaded and stored away.
Trent was all agog about the guns I bought while I was up there and he and I had some good moments handling them and working the actions.
But now I am retired again. And that makes the third time I have retired. (what is the record, does anyone know?) Now when I get Lt. Linda's list finished I will have more time for writing in the Gunowner and doing some gun projects.
I am considering a message board where members can ask the gunsmith questions about their guns and repairs or alterations for same. They can post them in the General board first and then I or the other Assist. Mgrs will move them to the "Ask the Gunsmith" column after they work their way down to the bottom of the page.
Any other special boards you want, drop it in a new message and we will see how it shoots. We have some very good gunsmiths and even better researchers in this club and we ought to be able to answer most all questions.
Glad to be home Sarge
