Gratitude and Responsibility .........

Scripture: Matthew 25:14, 19?STRONG>Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. ..After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them?BR>
Reflection: Adultery, theft, and anger can all be attributed to
passions of the moment. These are sins. But what about the simple matters of owning stuff—innocent in itself, but forming the steady state basis for living in the flesh; living for myself; putting me first; denying God in socially acceptably ways? We all buy things and perhaps move from being renters to home owners. But possessing becomes more dangerous than sins of passion in the diseased mind focused on accumulating for self. God requires accounting from his
stewards.

An old gentleman explained to me at club meeting one day why he did not support charities or use his money for others. He said he never knows when he might need his money for himself. This became a powerful lesson for me a couple of weeks later when they had his funeral. He was right—he never knew.

Prayer Starter: Our Lord, I am very conscious of stewardship today. All these things I use come from you. I desire to use them responsibly and with gratitude to you for trusting me with your property. In Jesus' name, Amen.
