Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

--Romans 12:2

Life really is full of hard choices, but thankfully, we have God's Word to help us make those tough decisions. And today, if you have a tough choice to make, ask yourself these five questions:

Question #1: Is it helpful? Is the decision you are making encouraging you and moving you down the path to serve Jesus Christ? If it's not moving you towards accomplishing God's will for your life, maybe you shouldn't do it.

Question #2: Is it habit-forming? Anything that can potentially put you in its grip and not let go is something to avoid. As Christians, we are free in Jesus Christ to not sin. We aren't slaves to anything! So ask yourself if the decision you are making has the potential to engulf your life and enslave you.

Question #3: Would this decision hinder my witness for Christ? You never know who is watching you and you certainly don't want to be a stumbling block for someone who doesn't know the Lord. Remember what Romans 14:13 says, "Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother."

Question #4: Would this decision build me up in my faith? Would it will make you stronger in your faith, make you a better Christian, and encourage you to witness to others for Christ. If not, you know which way to go!

And finally, question #5: Does this decision honor God? As it says in Colossians 3:17, "Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." If you can't say for sure that your decision will honor God, then steer clear of it!

I pray today that this helps you make those tough decisions in your life!

We have God's word to help us make hard decisions in life.
