Hello Folks,

I am a Christian of the Reformed Faith. I attend a small church that is with the Presbyterian Church in America (http://www.pcanet.org/ ). We are a theologically conservative Presbyterian denomination. (there are several conservative Presbyterian denominations, but most people only hear about the libral PCUSA.

Theologically I hold to the views espoused by the Protestant Reformers,  French Huguenots, Scottish Covenanters, and English Puritans also the Dutch and German Reformed Churches.

My understanding of the Christian faith is that which was held, by the great majority of early American Christians, until well after the War for Independence, and by Southern (Southron) Christians until after the War Between the States (not a civil war). This puts me in a small minority of modern Christians. Theologically only a small part of American Christians have even a small inkling of the theological foundations of our land, and it is an even smaller group that actually agrees with those views. I am one of those few.

I am a Cajun (see: http://www.louisiana.edu/Academic/LiberalArts/CCET/03a_Cultural_Tourism_Files/01.02_The_People/Cajuns.html ) and live in South Louisiana. I have migrated theologically from Roman Catholic ?Southern Baptist ?Reformed. I learned long after adopting Reformed thought that my Acadian ancestors were French Protestants (i.e.Huguenots). I had returned to their theology and I am therefore a Cajun Huguenot.

I love history and theology. I am an omnivorous reader and there are few subjects that I don’t find at least a little bit interesting. I don't read much fiction, and when I do read fiction it is usually one of the classic. I am also fond of poetry. My favorite reading is about stuff that most people find really boring. I guess I am something of a geek.

I hope I can occasionally add something constructive here now and then.

Coram Deo,
Kenith

Kent,

I am sorry it has taken so long to answer your questions. As you know I was gone for a while and I forgot about this place.

My Favourite poems would have to be Lord Byron’s The Destruction of Sennacherib, John Donne’s Death Be Not Proud, and Edgar A. Poe’s The Raven. I am fond of the Charge of the Light and much, much more.

My favourite Classic that I would recommend is Beowulf. I love that great work. I am always thrilled by Shakespeare’s Henry V. Henry’s speech on Saint Crispin’s Day speech thrills me every time I read it. (Kenneth Branaugh’s movie version is quite good.)

I have been working on my family genealogy. All my family, that I have found so far, is in Louisiana before 1800. Almost everyone of them go back to Acadia (Nova Scotia) or France. The Fontenot (Fon-ten-no) and LeFleur branches were French Soldiers stationed at Fort Toulouse (near modern Birmingham, Al) and they were married into the Alabama tribe. So I have a fair amount of Alabama (Indian) in me. After the Seven Years War (French and Indian War in American texts books) they joined their French and Acadian cousins here in Louisiana.

The first Andry (pronounced Andre) in Louisiana came to Louisiana from Paris. He was a Major in the French Army. He was stationed at New Orleans. The town of LaPlace was the home of his plantation. Louis (the Major) was killed in the 1790's when a party he was leading was ambushed by Attakapas Indians somewhere near the Sabine River which divides Louisiana from Texas. I recently found out that the Andry Plantation in LaPlace was also the scene of the largest slave revolt in American history. It was not pretty.

I also learned that the spelling "Andry" is from N.E. France and Belgium.

I am sorry again for the delayed response.

In Christ,
Kenith

Look, you're a possible descendent of Ruben, while I'm a possible descendant of Issachar.  Now this is really exciting. Have you studied the tribes and their migration?  You are interested in so many things, I hope you will add this subject to your repertoire.  You asked on another post what kind of Swiss I am.  German, from Basel an dem Rhein.  Love in the Lord, Marianne(
