I noticed that a lot of us in this club own  Patrols made in the 60's. I own a '91 Patrol is it as great as the earlier versions,  or has it lost something over the years?     GoldPatrol

Well Rupert, we in the USA are not fortunate enough to be able to answer your question since Nissan stopped importing Patrols to the USA after 1969! We do know that we love our older Patrols with a passion that exceeds the sum of their parts.

Hi guy,s im nouie from adelaide australia.
I have a 1990 GQ ST and off road its the best mate.
The gq springs sag after a wile but apart from that there as good if not better in my opinion.
A freind of mine has a 100 series landcruiser and he struggles in the bush when we go offroading.
To heavy and the spare wheel hangs to low , bottoms out a lot in rough terain.
You guy,s in the states are missing out on a wicked bush basher in the later model patrols.
Any way bye for now.

I am from Costa Rica and have a 2 door 84' SD 33 engine. Here they are not many patrols, but they are incresingly popular from the 90's on.
The newests are among the most expensive cars here.
My 84' has 450.000 km, one engine rebuild, a lot of smoke in the mornings and goes the year round with a injector clean up.
suspension is saggy, brakes are non existant, but it makes 12,5 km/liter of diesel :-)

And when I hit someone the only thing that I have to worry is:
"what happened to the other car?" :-)

Goldpatrol, I can only say the following, I drove a 1989 GQ LWB 4,2 Ltr diesel for 6 years in Ghana West Africa on and off road covering 320000 km. and the only parts what needed replacement where the schokabsorbers and the steering damper.
If I compare the patrol with the Jeep Cherokee I owned and drove for 3 years in Ethiopia after my stay in Ghana than the only conclusion can be that Nissan made and still makes the best 4x4 in the world. I live on this moment in Tunisia and own again a 1997 GQ LWB 4,2 diesel and plan to drive this as long as possible.

Patrol goes all the way

Hi I drive '87 K160 SWb Patrol in Poland. It has 330.000km, and a lot of off-road. I have a 3.3td engine and it takes 9 to 11/100km. Although it's more powerful than 2.8td it still weak, but its almost imposible to find a 4.2td engined Patrol in europe.

Some time ago I bought a second Patrol which is almost the same as the first one, and want to keep them forever.

Hi,

I drive a 1989 SWB Patrol 4.2 liter Petrol carberatour Engine and also a 1995 LWB Patrol 4.5 Liter injector Engine they both drive great with lots of power  to spare.

I also have a club in the UAE called Dubai 4X4 Club www.dubai4x4.com where we go out for dune bashing at least once every two weeks

My question is why is there no Patrols in the USA ?

There are so many differences between the various models. I own a Spanish built '93 3.0 litre 3 door hardtop (one of the last 30B s made) and a '94 4.2 GR SGX stationwagon - they are a world apart in so many ways, but one thing for sure is they are both fantastic off road and will go just about anywhere. Maybe the new ones have a more 'civilised' interior and thats the major difference - I don't think the older ones are better, just more utilitarian. There aren't many very old Patrols in England, it would be interesting to drive one.
