I  see an ad on e-bay for a brand new distributor for the Nissan P40 forklift engine.  Anyone know if it will fit our engines?

need to go thru a forklift company  it wont be in general circulation

the part number is correct and  is not a pertronix standard number

so looking in the pertronix  add's won't help since there is no listing for a nissan patrol

take out your number one spark plug and make sure the piston it all the way up when the the points are making contact using a soft pen is the safest way to know its tdc.  the rotor must be turning counter clockwise, if its not its firing backwards causing it to fire in reverse making it back fire

It fits, and by theory should work, but the bad news is that I have had a hard time with it.  When I got my Patrol this is what the previous owner had done and the Patrol would NOT run, seemed to have "jumped time", well after two weeks of work I found the oil pump gear (that turns the dizzy) was put in ~90 degrees out of time.  Once that was corrected I still could not get the "forklift" dizzy to produce much spark at all.  I rebuilt the waterproof original dizzy I got with the Patrol and it fired right up.
At this point I was still interested in getting electronic ignition so I replaced the "forklift" dizzy and could not get the Patrol to run.
Yup very long story but as far as I know the forklift dizzy "will" work, but if you look carefully it seems to pop up a lot on posts here and there with issues and questions.  The nice thing is if anyone out there can lend help and say they have one runnng  in their Patrol, then it should adapt to a Pertronix's electronic ignition well.
My ten bucks worth!

PS if you want a "forklift" dizzy for free PM me you can have min!!!!!
