Sometimes I listen to something that brings memories flooding back.  Some good, some bad.  Its funny how a song can touch.  The memories are here for good, buried someplace inside, we all have them.  Usualy we manage to push them back to that dark silent place when they creep out, but other times, they wont be pushed.
Remember when the only thing we worried about was getting home from school on time, and wondering if there would be a snack waiting.  Remember the times we licked the bowl as mothers or grandmothers baked cakes or cookies.  Simple times, but part of what makes us who we are.  Remember waiting and hoping to hear the sound of bells as we waited for Santa, even better, remember when with a childs innocence, we still beleived in Santa, the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny.  To bad we have to loose that innocence.
Remember the first time you really saw someone that made you take a deep breathe, hoping he or she would notice you, but not know that you were watching and hoping.  Remember how it felt when they  smiled in your direction, the way it made your blood rush and how your friends teased when you blushed.   Remember when they first kissed you, the way it excited you, scared you because the innocence was still there.  Where do we loose the innocence.
Remember the first time you thought your heart was broken, and how mom did everything she could to ease the pain, or how some fathers worried about their little girl growing up.  We rushed so hard to make a statement of being  independent, only to find it hurts.  Remember finally learning to smile again, to hope.  How you cant let them know just how they hurt your heart.  Remember feeling it slowly start to heal, only to find someone  else has taken over control of those same emotions.  Some learn to take control, never to let loose again, some feel that nothing is worth the pain of walking away again.
Remember when somehow, someone breaks through that shell only to find your heart is gone once again.  Remember the hopes and the dreams, the way they make you feel when their arms wrap around you, or how warm there kiss makes you.   Remember when you realize that this, this time is like no other, this one is harder, deeper.  Remember the total love you give, and how it makes you feel.  Some might even tell you to slow down, that this is not right, but, in your heart, only you know.  Remember.
Some get lucky, and find the one that makes them love like no other, some, still, for reasons only they know, have to walk away again.  Remember how cold and bitter your world becomes, how many times you pretend to others that you didnt really care, but they know.  Remember.  Is it really better to have loved and been loved once than not at all.
Each has to answer that question.  But, if the memories or sweet, and the love was real, it only takes a second to answer.  Remember.  Their touch, there kiss, the warmth you felt with them.  Remember the way they said  "Luv you hun".  Remember the joy you felt.  Would you give those memories up, not me.  My memories give me strength to go on, to beleive.  Remember when you loved life more than can be said.
Remember When there was innocence.  When the world was safe and warm.  When we had a shoulder to lean on, to cry on.  Remember when.
