Mary,
WOW!!! I missed your post about the transplant.  What a brave, wonderful person you are.  I pray that your recovery is easy.  You will be feeling better as each week goes by.  Just take it easy and follow Dr. orders on lifting etc... and you will do fine.  I will keep you and your husband in my prayers.  The surgery is harder on the donor than the transplant recipient.  I know that my brother in law (donor) had a stomach tube, nose tube and long incision like when John had his nephrectomy, and John had a about a 8 inch cut and one little IV line .  But on the positive side after about 2 weeks, Bobby said he felt great except with soreness around his incision and abdominal area.  You will do great also
Take care and keep us posted on you and your husbands recovery.
Donna

Hi Donna well its getting better woke-up feeling pretty good... I have 4 cuts 3 small ones and one larger one across the abdomin not sure how long that one is... Recovery is not the easy part of this lol....
My husband on the other hand is doing great hes only been to clinic once and they said his creaton is already at a 1.0 and that he can come in twice a week,,, and his other levels were just as fantastic as that.
I dont know it was mush easier when I was feeling good , but in a way in a strang kinda way I think this is helping him also. Because we both have to be concerend about eachother.....
You all take care and I hope the next post I will be 100% and writing to tell you all just that.... I guess what it is that Iam trying to say is that I know this is what I had to do what any of us would do I just didnt realize how hard the after matt was going to be.... but thank god  this is an opption for everyone !

hi
i've read board for yrs. but seldom post. my husband is awaiting transplant. i'm not eligible to donate because i have high blood pressure. glad to hear you are recovering from your ordeal. just wanted to encourage you about your daughter. there is always a cadaver donor, but better yet, a nephrologist told us he thinks that we are only a few yrs. away from medication that will slow or stop the progression of the disease. hang on!
