Recently I was given diuretics. 'great this helped with the swollen legs and ankles. I was also advised to cut my fluid intake. All went well for a while, then I started to feel faint and my urine acquired a wonderful aroma. I went to see my, Renal Clinician and was informed I was was severely dehydrated. Beware when taking prescribed diuretics.

cutting back on fluids only adds to the problem of swelling. the best way to deal with edema is to cut way back on sodium and drink more water - that is if you are still producing urine normally.
water helps to flush the kidneys and remove the sodium and other things your body doesn't need.
diuretics can be helpful but when combined with fluid reduction can cause problems, as you found out.
