So, my family and I participated in the PKD Walk in Santa Monica and it was great! Kojo (the fashion guru) was there and so was the Channel 5 news! I'm so glad more people are becoming aware of PKD!
I'm wondering what I should be looking for on my lab work. I had a routine physical done less than 6 months ago and my doctor said my labs were excellent, but this was before I new I had PKD. He hasn't referred me to a Neph. yet. If you view my post from Sept. when I was diagnosed, it might explain why.
if you have a copy of your lab results look for anything that is marked with a H or a + indicating that the value is high - or anything that is marked with a L or a - indicating that the value is low.
if you find anything like that you should not get scared but you should ask your doctor about it. you can ask us too but your doctor should be your first resource.
simple as that.
if you are not getting copies of your labwork you should ask for them but again, do not read anything into them until you know what to look for.
I have my lab results now and nothing is flagged. It shows an "N" under the flag for all the results. I would like some #'s though if ipossible from you guys. In #'s I mean like the #'s for my Bun, Creatine, etc. Are those the ones I should be looking at?
If any of you in the US use LabCorp for your bloodwork, if you want
the results to be sent to you (at NO charge) you should tell them so before they
start filling out paperwork.

Creatinine the most important. The range is up to 1.2 or 1.4 - 0.7 is perfect function usually. Just because it's "in range" does not mean your function is perfect.
My Creatinine was at .55. The range was between 0.50-1.20. So I'm confused as to where I fall in that category. My BUN was at 12 and the range was 7-25.
