7- The top of the ridge appears to be perfect however I cannot see the bottom of the ridge at all . Beautiful black colour, that is the only problem with solid blacks( of any breed) trying to photograph them with them looking like one big shadow. Has a beautiful head sillouhette too.

THANKS TO EVERYBODY FOR THE GOOD CRITICISM!

I´m really proud of my boy, because he has a very good character and is healthy.

This year he had two litters. 9 in czech republic and 7 in finland. All in all he has now 23 kids and all are healthy, that means no dermoid sinus or anything else.

Oh, I make my homepage new and you can see a lot of pictures on it. The english site is still under construction, but the german site is nearly ready. So, who wants to see lot of pictures can see them under :

www.thai.ridgeback.de

Again thanks to everybody,

Bye Nadine and Filou

I really have a problem to see this ridge; I can hardly see the bottom part and also the right upper corner... The bottom part does not seem to be well defined, and the crowns does not seem to be symmetrical to each other.
It seems that he has crowns on the bottom part of the ridge, and that is not allowed according to the new standard...
sorry! i give a 6

Hi,

No, his ridge is absolutely symetrical. Perhaps it seems not symetrical, because he is sitting and looking to the right side.

doesn´t the standart say:

There are various shapes and lengths of ridge, but must be symmetrical on either side of the backbone and within the width of the back. Crowns or whirls at the head of the ridge are acceptable.

But I will dry to make a better picture, so that you can see it more clearly.

Nadine

But you wrote that:

crowns on the bottom part of the ridge, and that is not allowed according to the new standard.

Doesn´t that means that crowns at the end of the ridge are correct and at the head of the ridge acceptable???

I guess You misunderstood me; I do think that his ridge is symmetrical! I only wrote that the crowns on the ridge seem not to be totally symmetrical to each other.
This is not really a fault, but I prefer when they are symmetrical to each other.

This is how I understand the Standard;
IF the dog has crowns (not all have crowns), then they are only acceptable on the upper (head) part of the ridge.
I understood that the new Standard wants a ridge more similar to the RR ridge...

Hey Group Members out there! How do You understand the new Standard??

Hi,

No I understood you. His crowns are symmetrical to each other. I´ll try to make a better picture next days.

"Crowns or whirls at the head of the ridge are acceptable."

I know how you understand it, but than there have to stay, that Crowns or whirls are all over only acceptable or at the end forbidden.

Doesn´t the RR have at the head of the ridge two crowns? Perhaps the head only means the beginning point..... I think this is not well definied, like some more things in the standart. For example the lengths of the ridge.

If you definied the standart like this it means that Jao Saay, BlueGirl, Chehn and Filou have a ridge which don´t according to the new standart and lot more dogs.

I think "at the head of" doesn´t mean all over. Because if you say this that means that ridges like the ridge from Kena is only acceptable.

I think we need a standart which is better definied, best would be pictures, so that there couldn´t be any missunderstandings.

Bye Nadine
