I was working with a Border Collie/ Australian Kelpie hybrid yesterday. One that is very fearfully aggressive . This pup was exhibiting this from 7 wks of age and is now 8 months and getting dangerous.
I took the pup with me to work. Every time someone wanted to pet or look at this guy he just wanted to eat them. Even in the car people walking on the street. Looking at people while we were stopped at lights he was mad.
After trying to get the strangers to not look but try to feed cheese his favorite he was getting worse. So I put a service jacket on him that said Service Dog In Training. When people wanted to touch and pet him I asked if they would ignore him as he was working. I asked that they did not even look at him. By the end of the day his was casually milling around people.  He would approach them and sniff after about five minutes of this they would without looking offer him his cheese and he was glad to have it. I came home with a different dogand light at the end of the tunnel. This is a very talented dog.
I started to think If I went to a party as long as no one looked at me or spoke to me I would have no pressure to respond. But if approached and engaged now the pressure is on I have to respond some way . Shy, bold, ......
Just an observation...........
Terri

Yes Terri,

Dogs like this do not need to be pressured.  A great observation and working solution on your part.

Dogs like this remind us that they are first to be thought of as animals. There is no other way. You have to meet them on that level, speaking the language of energy. Its immediate.

What you call shy and bold, my red dog is the same I think, but I call him dominant and sensitive.

I like the term Energy. Because that is what it is , your thoughts, your body movement all become your energy that the dog reads. People can to if they are awake.

Hi Terri,

I enjoyed our conversation as well. I'm so glad you are feeling better! May your strength return to you in full as we slowly move into summer.
