Tina -
I would actually love to keep rescuing TRD but I've never had a TRD puppy that I could raise myself and having a hand in how there are going to turn out. With rescues you have to take what you get and hope the person that had them before didn't abuse them so much that there is nothing to work with. Plus I have 3 small children, I had Cowboy before they were born and bringing them into the family wasn't a big deal and Cowboy loves them. But a dog that may be aggressive is not something I'm willing to work with until my children are bigger (does that make sense?)
I think one of the biggest reason TRD are going to rescues and shelters is because alot of people jump into buying one because they are unique and different without really knowing what they are in for. They are a dog that needs alot of attention and instruction and people get them, realize that and then send the dogs on their way. It's not right but it's what happens.
My parents have 3 TRDs, my husband and myself have 1 and my sister and her husband have 1 for right now. My step-dad worked with Thai rescue a few years back which is how we came into our dogs that we have now. I have seen all temperments in these dogs too but all of them have proved to be wonderful family dogs.
