Mia is a 5 month old, female Thai Ridgeback, who came to The Mayhew from a breeder whose relationship had broken down, leaving no time to sell Softy and her three siblings. Mia is a very frightened little girl, who shakes with fear when approached and is extremely under-socialized with people and other animals.
She does not appear to be at all used to human contact, is not toilet-trained, is only now learning about toys and is experiencing walking on a lead for the first time.
Everything is new to this sweet-natured dog, and she will need to be gently coaxed out of her shell. Even after intensive socialization, it seems probable she will always be timid of strangers. We do not know how she copes with being left alone.
She will need to go to training classes and will need one to two hours of off-lead exercise every day, initially on a 100ft training line until her confidence improves and her recall is perfected. Owing to her nervousness, any young people in her new home should be sixteen years old and upwards. She has had no socialisation around other dogs.
