I live on Bankson Lake in Lawton, Michigan. The Lake is about 220 acres so you can find it on any map search. We do not have a large yard due to having lake frontage but we are in a very remote area with lots feilds and forests. My Chihuahua is 7 years old and has attached himself to me at the hip. I am a stay at home mom so he goes everywhere with me. He is slowing down though and tries to stay away from my two boys. He was our dog before the kids were born so he is not too fond of them. He is a smaller breed of Chihuahua and is only 6 pounds. He has no problem with another animal in the house as long as it is a female. I house trained my mother-in-laws female Chihuahua 3 years ago and they got along great. I also dog sat a female Black Lab last year and they got along great as well. I owned a stray cat when I was growing up, she was mistreated quite badly by the neighborhood boys so I took her in. She hated everyone exept for me and I loved her so much. So about two years ago I found a cat who looked exactly like her, but it was a male. My Chihuahua and the cat had peeing wars up and down my stairs. The top level was my dogs and the basement level was the cats. I tried for 2 months to make it work but my mother-in-law eventually took him for a barn cat.
My yard might be small but my house is larger than most with 3000 sq. ft. In the summer we spend most of the time outside at the beach, but in the winter she will have plenty of room to play as well. Our basement is a family/playroom and is all open.
Whatever dog we end up with, I know will have a wonderful life. We are a very active family that loves to stay at home. Why go on vacation when there is a permanant beach in your front yard? Thank-you for your interest!
