Does anyone's would judge and drop points for LaiThai ridge since the manager dogs has no opportunity enter to any contest? Any critique and discussion are welcome! Thanks/Thaidane |

I would like to see a more close up picture!...
Well defined ridge of good lenght. The shape is something between needle, arrow and bowlingpin... Very symmetrical! Can´t see any crowns... how many does he have??
Looks excellent! :-) |

I'd give it a great symmetry and length. But is his tail really black? Jo-Ann |

Serge, Is there any reason as to where crowns appear - front or back? Or is it just random? Jo-Ann |

Not so sure ! Normally the crowns appear in the front (head of the ridge) but when we have multi amount of crowns, sometime they will down to the back (bottom of the ridge) or maybe down the each side of the body, just random. So I feel aslo if we can control the crown then we can also control the shape of the ridge too. ThaiDane |

I can see I can read I can write (no boos please) Serge I must give your ridge 9 & 1/2 - slightest of irregularity going down right side on these piccys but BETTER than any in the compeition because of interesting symmetrical shapes AND for me the BIG PLUS there is a definite and clear crossing point to the line across the shoulders and the hips and the ridge is most clear at these points - too many disappear into a vague fluffy patch or seem to lean back away from the dogs shoulders. Rest of her - she is a little unshaped in the chest and hip - I like small curve out at these places to say 'hourglass figure' (like Marilyn Monroe - chest widens then drop to small waist then widens same or a little more at hips). It looks more feminie - but for legs neck head back tail paws - looks to good to be true - all real dog and no too tidy and neat rounded outlines, like fat round paws and round nose and barrel chests - which is too showy - also has no fault the opposite way, (weak mouth/jaw - snipey, gives lean but tapering off to narrow feeling). How old is she - if young a litter would give her the sexiness and smooth the knobbles!!!! Like her alot Fabia |

Serge - sorry just realised its a boy dog - so strike out my coments about figure - if boy then all great as before but still would like more rounded shoulders - just a little extra muscle there. JoAnn the ridge circles follow the underlying musculture of skin attachment - so if you look you see the shoulder blade muscles push out in a curving shape, forcing the line of hair or parting in a person, to follow - when they try to go straight again they are 'pointing the wrong way'. If you groom a horse you have the same places, shoulders, just before stifle when angles of bones and following muscle predict where to brush the other way. Brush one way against the hair then opposite and repeat 20 times and you get that pretty patchwork squares effect on posh horses - this pattern appears on dogs fur when lying on one side but wriggling around - see on shoulders and hips. So ridges occur these places and crowns and other shapes depend how far the muscles make the hairs curve. In ridge dogs get variable directions of hair line so you can predict what marking what spot by watching how he lies, stands, turns stretches, so you can see the way each dog moves slightly differently and hairs run same way in variable amout of space each muscle block. If you get pencil and paper and draw dog side on or top then mark limits of muscle stretch each area where markings come, you can work it out quite easy from a puppy. Dogs like Beardies and Briards and Poodles show big differences in type of hairand extent of muscles that extend over these areas - so you can tell early where the parting will be, type of coat and if any irregularities of line and if parting over to one side more than other. FUN - dont call me an anorak - it was an interesting pasttime once!!!!! FabiaXX |

Fabia, Ginger's twin whorls appear near end of ribcage, where tuck upward starts. This is where her ridge starts to taper and then she has another on 1 side only. Anyway none in front. I have never decided what shape it is. Have a good holiday, I must find Euros for the TRD calendar, should be interesting since there are only 8,000 people in this town. I'm goin to see if post office is of any use. Jo-Ann I appreciate your info. |

Hi JoAnn - if she was a Rhodie it would be the bottom of a cello withthe top missing - those whorls are a wide float type of curl upwards and with a shallow angle as they follow the 'floating ribs'. Fun as I said - call it a 3/5ths cello - its your ridge so maybe another fun name. Aren't I an anorak Hugs to Ginger FabiaXX |

Fabia, Never thought of it that way but you are correct, I 've always thought of it as a comic strip exclamation mark w/o the dot. Ging sends her best, she enjoys your stories and info too. Jo-Ann |

You are right! Male should look like a male and female should look like a female. Do you mind to critique more between Yod - LaiThai - NaemChock ? Thaidane |
