Hi Brian! Not Thai standard, just my opinion about a basic dogs structure. I don't think the Thai standard has "hardened" yet enough to address these particularities??? I've read the standard posted on most web sites, is it still in formulation? What with all the other breed additions? Is there an earlier standard? For me, looking at the Thai...I regard them as an essential dog, pariah dogs, developed for the hunting and guarding use, a very useful dog. So I believe the basic definition of a sound structure in any dogs would not conflict with the Thai Ridgeback Dog. To me a basic dog would be the Siberian Husky, moderate, medium build. Nothing outstanding...basic in front and rear assembly. Movement basic...purpose, to go effortlessly all day long for working. Ann |

Hi Ann ! Yod down-and-back gait : Single track - typical seen in the wide set dog. The side-winding for Yod and LaiThai is because both them have a shorter back, so they must find a way to compensate they legs do not interfere under the body. This is Yod "on the move" pics that I have , how you say ? Thaidane |

Hello Serge, Sorry for taking so long, yes I did see the side gaiting (trot) picture of Yod. Thank you! From the photo, I see good rear drive with excellent kick back. Front reach a little short. Front foot is falling under front end of lower jaw, ideally should reach under the nose. Are you sure Yod's back is too short? It does not appear so to me. Best, Ann |

Ann its 11:10 length I think - not as much as RR 3:2 but still by that Yod too square. I agree movement improves his overall appearance - i didnt notice his foot under jaw not nose - so Im going back for another close look!!!! Fabia |

Ann I see what you mean - if he had long enough neck front stride would be too short. Enlightenment for fabia. Can see from the picture how the short back causes sidewinding to compensate - you can see his right hip throwing out over his topline as his left hip swings. It is very clear to me - but then I have a dog with hipdyspalsia who does this occasionally and you can see it very clear on other dogs if you are watching for it (for pain) all the time. Fabia PS Are you a top judge or vet or something???? There must be a reason you see all these things most of us cant until you demonstrate - come clean!!!! |

For Serge etc - one reason I think Yod is champion is you can see good nature and happy to show - this counts for decent points in UK judging - sometimes the happiest dog wins!!! He does have such a nice character - you must keep that. Fabia |

Hey Mary Ann.I will just some itup with an excellent!!! Nice job Tina.Excellent breeding and result. Beautiful rear angulation, head type, ear set,topline,color..Hes got it all so far. I think the only fault ,if pic is presenting it right ,is the liver nose. His ridge looks as good as it gets. Tail I would like a little more strait and erect, but it could just be that moment in time..Good Luck with him MaryAnn..James
