Hey Mary Ann.. Unfortunately this is not the case here.. When he was a young pup he was solid black..When he got to about 5 months old,he started getting some hints of red on rear legs ,and some very light through some spots in body..It is very faint but you can see it if you look close.. It is the result of red generations,as his whole pedigree is red,and some great ancestory I might add. Im not overly concerned with it as I want his structure, angulation, tailset, head type, etc. The coat is minor..I will get a black female, hopefully of top quality and purify the black.James

Young male not fully developed yet.
On the picture he does not have much "TRD expression", partly cause he´s not high alert and does not have his tail erect.
Good ears. Nice head. Very good topline. Good underline. I would want bigger ribcage on him, but he´s still so young so it can improve.
I prefer shorter coat. Healthy shiny coat.
Not solid color.
On the picture he looks a bit long in body.

Hi Susanne..I agree,I would like  some more wrinkle in his forehead, but in this pic it was a hot day and he does not like training so he was kind of mellow. There is nothing I can do about his coat length or color, except hope to get a great shorter haired black bitch and hopefully purify it.He has many generations of red in his pedigree so it was bound to happen..He needs pure black or possibly a black from blue descent to help his pups.I have a friend in Puerto Rico with a nice black bitch from black parents,so we may do a breeding together..Or I may get another for myself..He is a big boy but still immature..he doesnt even lift his leg yet..He has great weight,so I am sure he will fill out even better as he gets a few more monthsand about 3-5 more pounds..he has heavy bonestructure,so that take a little longer to grow into and form.James

This 100% correct.. all TRD no matter what color will shed or blow coat..
If the you can realize how close the BLACKS and REDS are, many many BLACKS will have a RED tinge to their coats as most have the RED color in their backgrounds..same as the SUPER REDS (tamerian seed color) have a tinge of BLACK in their coats...

Both of your dogs are awesome and you both should realize that and you will see in time all that will change...any one like Nadine, Frank, Ray, myself and many others who have TRD that are over a decade in years know who they all change.. especially the BLUES.
You will be in shock of a BLUE TRD after 8 years of age..They really change and there is nothing you can do..but ti enjoy them in their old age...

Hi James I had the same problem with Asia Her coat seemed to be a touch longer then a month or so previous and it had a red tinge to it at the shoulders.I was in panic for a bit but some Weimeraner people told me not to worry. Turns out she was just about ready to blow her coat. She has since done that and it is back to the nice short beautiful blue it was before. Perhaps that is what is happening to your boy.

He's Looking good, what a beautifull shine he has to him.

yeah, dogs like him with heavy bones tend to take longer time to mature. he is several months older than Sawath, but still looks more "puppy" in body than her.
I think just like You; coat color does not bother me so much. it will be fixed in future generations (I have the same situation with Sawath).

Not just great - huge - size of King Kong from the scale of the photo appearing on my screen  actually its nice to see such detail.
I like the glint of red - I prefer to really solid smooth black.
Perhaps he needs a little more chest for balance so his neck doesnt look shortish through more muscle there, but otherwise, Tha Law, go and spank your dada for being so mean about you - youre gonna be an impressive boy within the year. Pretty perfect I think - all dogs go through taller one day then bulkier the next phases whilst they are growing - I can see you'll be kicking sand in the faces of those other wimps any day now.

Hi ThaLaw!

You have great black colour! Also you have very good angulations! I like your head, but at this photo I can see too much forehead. Well set ears, but your right ear is a bit soft, but it will get right when your head is full! Maby you are littlebit too long at this time. You have nice underline, but your back is little soft, but that will be better when you have more age. Littlebit short tail, is it? Still you have good tailset. You have great bone, you will be strong masculine male in the future. Still I need more high in your legs. How high are you? You are NICE, tell that to your Papa!!

All the best to your life! I want to see your photo after a year!

Hi SaaraThank u for your kind words!,I am 62.5 centimeters and weigh 32
Kgs.I think I look short because I am standing in tall grass. My tail is good
length and I try to carry well and proud. My length is proportionate to my
height by standard but my black coat makes me look long I think. My coat is
too long though and I have some red in it. The length of my coat may make my
back look soft because of long ridge. Can you better explain what you mean
by soft ear??I notice you say that of Kaang too,but I dont know what you
mean..He looks like a great dog to me.

Hi again ThaLaw,

You are quite a Big Boy have to say..do not grow anymore, but ofcourse your weight will be get up a little.
I´d like to see photo where you stand in a hard ground! Your coat IS NOT too long, as I say many times when we judge dogs, that "The Beauty is in the lookers eyes"..I like that you don´t have too long coat. Also you show look lenght at this photo, because you like lean on to backwards. And your coat in still nice, even there is red to see; Who is perfect, No One..Every dog have their faults And I mean your right ears outside look to my eyes to be soft, but this pickangle can show it badly. I can be wrong!

Please judge our Kääng..

James I think (sometimes??) the long hair surrounding the ridge tends to curve over it a bit so it gives a false appearance of a dip, which older muscles along the spine correct as the muscle grows and lifts - its not a real dip but a trick of the eye but does say 'young' and the ear when still fluffy round the bottom and the muscles less rounded from chewing longtime allows a little droop in a youngster at the base of the ear, which is not a fault as long as he can prick his ears to listen and it doesnt sag.
So not problems just youthful fluff deceives the eye.

You are too nice to me Saara!
 KAANG
Color is excellent
coat  looks very full and healthy/soft
Ears are well set, but I do see the softness you speak of now
great head and muzzle length
Topline looks strong and strait
I know he carries his tail well and is very strait becaue I remember his 7 month old pictures.(Can't expect us dogs to pose pretty and perfect all the time, think we care about a foto?)
His angulation looks good to me,just need to see him in a stack( the new standards are making the dogs over angulated, because of all the Doberman and Sheperd in there)
What about us older lines? How are we supposed to change our genes? If you read the standards of other primitive hounds, you will see they all say moderate bends at stifle. The standards are changing to accomodate the latest breeding trends.
Neck is very strong and broad, but with mass will look much better.I think it is very tight
His front looks very strait, but will look better with more weight
We are only 1 year old, wait till they see us older.I think Kaang is a great dog and will offer alot to your future litters.
Your friend in America, ThaLaw Kanchai

Hi ThaLaw,

I just say what I like!!

Thank you your comments of Me!I have very full and thick coat, even it is short. I love my colour too!

I think I have enough angulations, depence how I stand. I do not like that Shepard-angulations or standing (wich some TRD´s have it).

Saying again. every dog have their faults, no one is not perfect Even us!

Here soon ThaLaw and remember send your photo next Spring!
I will get muscles a lot in this coming wintern, I can run in snow, come and joy, it is fun!

In the UK we are the criminals of show position - now there is quite a lot of protest so I hope in US and elsewhere you dont do the same as us.
UK dogs all bred to straight shoulder and legs so far back the hips are nearly broken  and the dogs cant even walk properly - look at the GSD - its in all dogs. Appalling. The only real measure of a stifle or second thigh or shoulder is what it looks like when the dog is moving!!!!
If its functional and healthy it fits the standard - none of our standards say make the dog like a strange gymnastic picture but everyone does. Stick up for healthy frames - maybe in 50 years we can get healthy hips and shoulders back in the UK - for TRD I find it hard to accept that US and France want to see such unnatural posture in a brand new breed???

Today was a great day! I finally have overcome ThaLaws fear of car rides.I successfully got him to enter the truck 7 times on his own. It was with the help of the Dog whisperer that Jo Ann had mentioned. I have finally seen a few episodes, and I must say that although his methods and teachings are fundemental, and very common knowledges, his approach is somewhat differnet. We know dogs need to be dominated or they will dominaqte. But I think  wahrt happens is that most will forget ,or never knew the right way to approach a dog.Teaching, forcing,or encouraging isnt always the key. But  targeting their basic needs and behavior pattern and thought process is what needs to be adjusted.humans do need refresher courses in understanding what the dog is feeling and thinking. Patience, understanding, and manipulation of their behavior is what will be successful in difficult situations. We can all use a little tune up and obviously you can never stop learning.
This was a very difficult feat for me. I can tend to get frustrated, and the dog will read my discern, and shut down more.Forcing, yelling,or even encouraging does not satisfy their basic needs for leadership and confidence. It is the "pack" leader, which we all do know, but how do you properly establish that positon? This is something we all can learn.
Fabia, you have often said that the calm ,confident laid back male is what leads.I didnt really believe that too mufch til now.Cesar Milan, confirmed this .Calm, assertive confidence. Not babying, encouraging, nor discipline will correct a bad situation.Proper leadership does.Making the dog confident in its positon in the pack does.It really re educated me as I can tend to get impatient sometimes. Thank you Jo Ann for the recommendations.
What i did was sit in the truck, I had to force a little.I would stoip when he fought, and take him away from the truck and walk him.I would then run to the truck before he has time to think and jump in. I did have to force him a little to get in, but when he did, I PRAISED HIM HEAVILY, THEN GOT OUT AND did it again. I just kept getting in and out. Finally he was jumping right in.I was so happy.I can tell he was confident and proud, and happy to please me.Although I was frustrateda little,I tried not to display it,I didnt look at him when i was feeling that way.I just remained calm.He did it! Not to say he may not behave that way again, but knowing he is alittle more sensitive to me,and to life in general,I think I have a handle now on how to work him properly. All dogs are differnet.Sakorn will do anything I ask.ThaLaw needs the right appraoch. Not soft, but just sensitive to his needs as a dog.Now I think I can overcome many issues he has, and reestablish his confidence more.I think I learnd my appraoch with him was too firm, and he didnt respond well to it.It will be a long road, but at least now I think I have the path to follow! james

To further add to it,he obviously had a negative experience in cars, that I
as an owner was never fully aware of.I think I may have added to it,instead
of assessing it properly. Then my actions or reactions may have reaffirmed
his behavior.Especially when I was angry or frustrated.
I then proceeded after my success to take him and Sakorn for a ride.Taking
it slow, avoiding sudden stops or big bumps in the road.We went to the store
twice. Then I just got out and made no big deal about anything.Just ordered
them inside.I can tell he was happy today. And so am I. He is sitting with me
now,Confident, alert, and happy. It seems funny making a big deal about a car
ride huh? Next is my approach to training him. I will use better leadership
of him, instead of anger or frustrations, which can tend to make him
fearful,or timid with me,I will exercise confidence and patience with him.
Normally I use food and praise, and correction.Corrections will shut him
down. Praise is good,as well as food, but catering to his basic need for
confident ,calm leadership is really his best reception. I feel like a kid
with a new toy! I cant wait to see some more episodes now,and move on,as I
know this doesnt make me a pro,and Im sure I will fall back sometimes to old
ways. But I now know how to appraoch him.Making him submit wantingly is what
he needs, and not forcing submission is key! james
