I'll admit it: I never truly admired the robustness and engineering behind the Kalashnikov series of weapons until I started studying the design.  This lead me to a lot of neat links devoted to this piece of ordnance, the most prolific firearm ever built on this planet with total numbers approaching 80 million!

First there is the M.T. Kalashnikov historical site with links to the manufacturer, Izhmash located in Izhevsk, Russia.  Go to www.kalashnikov.guns.ru.

Second is Valery Shilin's Gun Club.  Valery is an engineer at Izhevsk and has some very interesting information on a lot of Russian small arms not seen in the West.  Go to www.club.guns.ru.

Third is a general-purpose site for history and specifications on all sorts of world wide weaponry.  Go to www.world.guns.ru.

Fourth is a site devoted to the Dragunov and PSL sniper rifles.  Go to www.dragunov.net.

Fifth is a site devoted to the Finnish Valmet version of the AK and its Israeli descendent, the Galil.  Go to www.valmet.org.

Sixth is a great place to find information on all things pertaining to the AK.  Go to www.ak-47.net.

Enjoy the links.  I have more to post on other guns.

Valery Shilin is one of the major contributors to the Collector Grade Publication book "Kalahnikov  The Arms and the Man a revised and Expanded Edition of The AK47 Story by Edward Clinton Ezell"
