C79 Wildcat Optics
Back to "Asst. Optics (Public Album)"

This is the Canadian made and 'issue' C79 optics, known here as the Wildcat. 3.5X, plus GTLS, the sight is very popular with Australian troops. It is far better than the standard ADI 1.5X 'tube' in generic use throughout the ADF. The wildcat is capable of being fitted on the F88-S(A1) Austeyr rifle, plus the F89(A1)P Minimi (US M249 style) LMG. Also it can be used on any weapon for SF use that has a Picatinny rail. The sight features a unique sight picture, even for leading 'moving tgts'. Some problems with the optics are the rubber outer case has some rubber EY (emergency) 'iron' type sights. These have a tendenacy to 'rub' off during normal use, not abuse. I have seen many of these scopes returned to 'depot' because of this. The Australian harsh climate is very unforgiving on all equipment, and differs in such a vast way from the Canadian climates in which these sights were designed for. The Australian SAS are currently using this sight as we speak in Afghanistan. "Who Dares Grins".
