September 11th -

"Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our English dead!
In peace there's nothingso becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favored rage;
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect."

William Shakespeare

www.mst2-vietnam.info -
The purpose of this website is to honor the men of Mobile Support Team TWO, SEAL Teams ONE and TWO, and members of Underwater Demolition Team detachments that fought in Vietnam from 1966 to 1972.  These small detachments of "Brown Water Navy" sailors used the waterways of Vietnam to take the fight to their Viet Cong and Noth Vietnamese Army enemies.  The total number of these warriors was never more than 300 to 400 members on duty in RVN at a time.  When combined with the aviation assets of Light Attack Helicopter Squadron THREE [HA(L)-3] with UH-1B gunships and Light Attack Squadron FOUR [VA(L)-4] with OV-10 attack aircraft, these units took on a synergy that produced casualties among their opponets all out of proportion to their numbers.

Now declassified and removed from secrecy requirements, their story can be told.  This is a work in progress and I am proud to be a part of it.

www.ptfnasty.com -
Before the American SEAL/UDT/MST-2 units were deployed to the rivers and canals in the Mekong River Delta of South Vietnam, there was MST-1.  Mobile Support Team ONE was a group of American and South Vietnamese Navy sailors working for the Studies and Observations Group (SOG) in Saigon.  Operating out of Da Nang, South Vietnam, beginning in early 1964, this unit employed U.S. Navy Fast Patrol Boats (PTF) to undertake maritime operations against North Vietnam.

The PTF was Norwegian-designed boat that was very similar to the Patrol Torpedo (PT) boats of World War 2.  The PTF's used against North Vietnam were configured as gunboats.  From 1964 to 1972 they mounted over 1,000 operations against the North.  PTF's engaged North Vietnamese Navy patrol boats, carried out recon missions, attacked military installations, kidnapped enemy personnel for intelligence gathering purposes, and did other clandestine missions.  This site is dedicated to the men who manned these fast boats and provides the most extensive amount of information available on-line about the craft's unique propulsion system: the Napier-Deltic turbo-superchaged diesel engine.

Often overlooked and underappreciated, small boats of the U.S. Navy have been used extensively in combat since World War 2.  This website looks at past, present, and future small naval combatants.  There is information on many rare (and relatively unknown) types of small fighting craft described here.  Welcome aboard.
