Subject: Suicide amongst Vets

Please Pass to ALL Australians

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have lost another Proud Australian Soldier to the horrors of PTSD.

Scott Spinks ended his life late last week and the sad part is that it never had to happen. Scott, a staunch supporter of the Sea of Orange, received no help from the DVA, or the RSL, only harassment. As usual he was called a liar when he finally was able to relate the horrors of his incidents in East Timor to the DVA.

Scott 34, was a good mate, you would have liked him as my mates all did after meeting him.

Scott’s death brings the suicide tally in South Australia to five, that’s at least the one’s we know about. Many more of my mates have gone “missing? either hiding in their own deep despair caused by this mongrel PTSD, or committing suicide themselves, on their own, after marriage breakdowns and lack of understanding and no acceptance.

Attached is the original Sea of Orange O Gp Doc where Australia was warned publicly that our finest young men and women, now feel that they no longer have any option.

Remember, Ladies and Gentlemen, that when we asked for the help of the RSL Executive here in South Australia they told us not to rock the boat! When we took to the streets on Anzac Day with our Orange Armbands pleading for help (and only because the RSL Executive blatantly refused our pleas). John Spencer from the RSL “made?people remove their armbands. Then afterwards he laughed to the Newspapers, saying that our campaign for awareness was a flop.

Nationally, the RSL faired no better. Maj Gen Crews, even though polite, did nothing! Many Sub-Branch Presidents and Committee Members copped the “wrath?of their State Execs for sticking up for the Veterans they have taken office to protect. My own Club was rung and told not to let me in the “door?by John Spencer of our State Executive! Thank God that not everybody is as stupid. Scott enjoyed the Colonel Light Gardens RSL as do many Timor Vets who suffer from PTSD.

Tich Tyson from the RSL rubbed it in quite well saying, “I told you so? Well, I told you so Tich! (and you did nothing except gloat).

The RSL has continued with their campaign of hate, ostracising two other Sea of Orange Members and have ignored personal pleas from myself, as these men too need help, not harassment from an organisation formed to “look?after them.

The National President of the Peacekeepers/Peacemakers Association, Paul Copeland, quickly distanced himself from our problems (I guess there are no OAM/AM’s to be won in sticking up for the Service Person against the Government).

To the surprise of many disgruntled Vietnam Veterans, (but not to me), I give my personal thanks to Ron Coxon, the National President of the VVAA and his team, who has been battling this bloody DVA system of dishonesty for many years now. Scott spoke highly of you Ron, keep plugging away.

To Ray Brown, the National President of the ISPA, whose support and personal “mateship?have helped me out on many occasions and helped Scott in a big way as well. Perhaps not a financial member Ray (he had no money), but a member nonetheless, and was looked after as a Brother!

To all of those who wore the Orange Armband of Dissent on Anzac Day. Your courage gave Scott great hope and many like Scott are still with us simply because they know their “mates?are standing “with?them! Please keep up your show of dissent as it has saved lives and I’m sure it will give many others that little ray of hope that they need to keep going on!

Lastly and most importantly, my personal thanks to Dave Gabel. Dave gave Scott his personal support when all of the formal agencies could not or like the DVA and RSL Executive, would not! Thankyou Dave!

To absolutely everyone else who receives this E Mail, I know your thoughts are with Scott today and I know your compassion towards all sufferers of this system of neglect and denial is genuine and I thank you all for your support.

If the DVA gave their support to Scott instead of trying their best to deny his claim, Scott would still be very ill but he’d still be with us! This should never have happened!

Many regards to all

Paul Dignon
