Knight's Armament Co. (KAC) of Vero Beach, FL is in production of the Mk 11 Mod 0/1 and M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper Systems for the Navy, Marine Corps, and U.S. Army.  The rifle itself is a scaled-up version of the venerable Eugene Stoner designed AR-15/M16 rifles in 7.62x51 NATO.  Loosely based on the original Stoner AR-10 design, the Mk 11 (and later M110) are more like the 5.56 NATO rifles than the earlier AR-10 7.62 NATO rifles.

The Mk 11 series rifles are refined versions of the SR-25 7.62 NATO sniper rifle originally designed for commercial sale to law enforcement agencies by Eugene Stoner and C. Reed Knight, Jr.  The rifle uses a KAC-designed 10 or 20-round 7.62 NATO steel magazine.  The rifle has a 20-inch match barrel free-floated in a URX modular Picatinny Mil-Std-1913 rail sleeve.  Unlike the 5.56 NATO rifles, the 7.62 NATO upper receiver does not have the forward assist feature, is more massive, and has an integral Mil-Std-1913 rail.  Controls are similar to the M16A2/AR-15A2 series rifles, except the safety selector is ambidexterous.  The rifle is designed to use the KAC-designed quick attach/detach suppressor.  Flip up iron sights are fitted in case the primary optical sight is removed or damaged.  The Mk 11 is fitted with a two stage match trigger and is semi-automatic only.  The rifle is designed for the M118LR 175-grain Special Ball sniping round @ 2,591 fps.  A Harris bipod is standard issue for the rifle.  Overall length is 45-5/8 inches with suppressor and weight is 15 lbs. 3 oz. (loaded).

Below:  The AN/PEQ-2A ITPIAL in close-up and installed on a 5.56 NATO caliber M4-series carbine.  The sight uses an infrared laser illuminator and targeting sight for use with night vision goggles.  The illuminator IR laser protects a light for locating targets; the tagreting sight uses a projected infrared dot to designate the target for the shooter.  The inset photo shows the sight and the pressure switch to turn the sight on and off.  (Photos: U.S. Army)

For some reason the photos of the AN/PEQ-2A dropped out.  I will try again.

Correction: Scope is a Leopold 3.5 to 10 power Mk 4 LR/T.  A "knob" on the ocular end of the scope (close to the shooter's eye) indicates a scope with an illuminated reticle.
