Update: The New York Post's Page Six column [07/22/06] is now reporting that "Access Hollywood" misquoted the perky one, Katie Couric in its initial interview. Katie now says as anchorette of Dan Rather's CBS News show beginning in September 2006, she will go to the danger zones.
Certain industry insiders speculated that this was a scam done by Katie's NBC News rival because they were nervous about their own anchor, Brian Williams, going head to head with perky Katie. CBS News and Katie have declined to comment.
Well, if this is true and perky Katie does go to war zones and do reporting, who will air her reports first? Will it be Al Jazzera or North Korean People's Daily or CBS News -- all are pretty much interchangeable. I don't really care if perky Katie goes to Iraq or Lebanon or North Korea or where ever. She will be the same propaganda shill for America's enemies as she has always has been. The difference is that she'll be drawing a $60 million contract salary check from CBS instead of the "slave wages" they paid her at the TODAY show. Poor baby.
