What's really a bloody shame is that the PNG Defence Force's L1A1-F1's were given an unceremonious burial at sea according to or resident Commonwealth rifle expert, Kevin Adams.

Many did however find their way to the Solomon Islands where some remain in the hands of the bags and many others were intoduced o a large gringer with a cut off wheel.

Anyone familiar with what the current infantry small arm for the PNGDF is?

I'd heard rumors that they were getting recycled Diemaco C7A1 rifles (license-built Canadian versions of the M16A2), but I never saw confirmation.  From Wes' photos, it appears that the 7.62 machine gun of choice is the L7-series (or other variant of the Belgian MAG-58 GPMG).

There's not too much about the PNGDF on the Internet save that about three battalion-sized units are based at Port Morseby, Lae, and Weewak.
