As it says, I'm looking for a L2A1 rear sight. Prefer in Australia, but if anyone knows where to get one from, it would be much appreciated. Thanks |

I suggest you visit www.falfiles.com and send a personal note to SLR5000 (Pat Jones). Pat has come up with some pretty rare inch-pattern parts and accessories. I'd try him and you could also place an ad on their bulletin board. I think that I remember the Canadians purchased surplus L2A1 long tangent sight top covers from Australia for their C2 automatic rifles. The Canadians either modified the Aussie top covers or salvaged them and added the tangent sights to the C1 short top cover. C2 auto rifles used the tangent sight top covers with a blank in the slot where the rifle rear sight would go on the lower receiver; C2A1 auto rifles used the standard C1 rifle top cover with a special 700 meter diopter fold-down sight. |

The early L2's used the tangent site mounted on the dustcover , the later ones used the same rear site as the L1's. Haven't seen a L2 tangent site for sale in some time. There were some parts for one sold recently is about it. Price now if you can find a tangent site would likely be in the $400-$650 range if you can find one. Good luck, G_FAL |

What you have is a National Stock Number stamped on the part. Members of NATO, Commonwealth, and other countries use NSN's for classifying and ordering of spare parts (as well as complete systems). The NSN is composed of 13 digits: 1. Positons 1-4 are the FSC (Federal Supply Code): 1005 = ordnance 2. Position 5-6 are the country code: 13 = Belgium 3. Positions 7-13 are the NIIN (National Item Identification Number): 100-0225 = NIIN If this is a FAL magazine, its NSN would indicate a metric-pattern made in Belgium. The following is a summary of country codes for NATO and other nations using the NSN format. For example: 1310-12-127-3749 denotes a German item; 1315-00-935-9212 denotes a U.S. item. The codes are as follows: | CODE | COUNTRY | CODE | COUNTRY | | 00 | United States | 24 | Iceland | | 01 | United States | 25 | Norway | | 11 | NATO | 26 | Portugal | | 12 | Germany | 27 | Turkey | | 13 | Belgium | 28 | Luxembourg | | 14 | France | 29 | Argentina | | 15 | Italy | 30 | Japan | | 17 | Netherlands | 31 | Israel | | 18 | South Africa | 32 | Singapore | | 21 | Canada | 66 | Austrialia | | 22 | Denmark | 98 | New Zealand | | 23 | Greece | 99 | United Kingdom | |
