:ife here In Shetland Is very different from anywhere I have ever lived..The Shetland folk are an honest people and a soft spoken people as you woud Imagine they have a dialect all of their own and it takes a wee bit of getting used to but up till now everyone i have met has treated me with kindness and accepted Robert and me ..
shetlanders are very family orientated....they like to see you get involved in the local community and to see you at the village functions....the more you go to things ...the more they open up..
Before I came here I had almost became a recluse as i lived in an area where It was not safe to go out and I even had feath threats sent to me about Robert ...most of the people in my area were very unsociable ...for me this became a very depressing way to live..
My life has completely turned around now I was so lucky to meet Susanne and her husband Phil the day I arrived and they have taken me under their wing and kept me right in all the local culture..
Susanne ( in a short time ) has become a ggod friend and I am amazed at all we have in common....we meet up for coffee everyday and put the world to rights ..I was invited to join the Village Council and set up a womans group...You might think that Shetland Is isolated and it terms of where we are It is but I have never been less Isolated In my life....Slowly I am moving into a lifestyle that i love and am at complete ease with....I have known for a long time that I am destined to be on my own and coming here was seen as a big risk but If I am to live my life on my own i might as well be in a place i am happy and content with...
I can hoestly say i have never laughed so much in yrs as i do with Susanne ....There is not a day that passes that I dont marvel at the scenery, It changes by the hour some days and the colours of the island change all the time.....
