Thank you so much - your prayers are appreciated. My father is being cared for at home - he has yet to regain use of left side but we have seen some movement in left leg - which bears out the doctor's assertion that he is not paralysed it is just a question of getting the brain to recognise that side of his body.
His dementia of course remains but is now "just Dad" - he remembers things from donkeys' years ago and related them as if they happened yesterday - however what happened yesterday is very unlikely to be remembered at all.
He also has to have all food pureed as he is unable to swallow properly and thus unpireed food would run the risk of going sdown the wrong way and ending up on his lungs. he looks thin and those legs look like they wouldn't hold him up were he able to stand anyway - so we watch as he is lifted between bed and chair in a hoist and there is a feeling of such deep sadness - it is hard to describe. Yet he is with us and we are thankful for that.
And I am so thankful to all of you for caring and buoying me up during desolate times. xxx
